Maybe its not fitting just fine... I just noticed gaps on the side that are larger than the old ones, let me fiddle with them for a bit.

Edit: nevermind! Just had to tighten them down a bit more, the foam is a little thicker with the new one I think.

UPDATE:

Installed the new lights on 3/6, here is a photo:

Checked them today after two days of use driving to work (3 mile commute), and take a look:

Obviously the lights I got as replacements are exactly the same as the old ones with the same issue...

Not sure but I am almost certain at this point that it is only an issue with the clear TOMs. I purchased red TOMs a month ago and they showed up fine with no blemishes or defects along with all the other red owners.

I believe these are the USDM, but these issues can also be found in the JDM models. So far just the clear versions on both USDM and JDM

Now wait a sec, I thought these tails were supposed to be 100% LED lit. Where's the heat coming from? It's not like these are headlight LEDs. They shouldn't be generating enough heat to melt the plastic.

Not all models are affected. Not everyone reported to own USDM or JDM clear Toms have reported these issues. I don't know what the percentage of users affected are, but I believe it's small in comparison to the overall amount that are out there. Seems to me there is a higher percentage of issues seen on the USDM models verses the JDM variant
On a side note, it's interested to see that the melting issues on all of the clear Toms that I have seen, seems to be concentrated in the identical location on every tail

Small update:

I went with the USDM Reds instead of the Clears as a replacement this time, and so far they are fine.

Its obviously a manufacturing defect in the clear lights.
