Highly doubt most folks on this forum have. There's maybe a handful of these select folks on this place.

Yeah, it's almost embarrassing. Close to the scale of the "VTEC! Oh shit that's fast" crowd.

Don't get me wrong, the FRS/BRZ is a good car. For the money, there isn't really anything that compares in terms of RWD coupes (However, the new mustang EcoBoost is probably going to start stealing the spotlight quite a bit in that market). I've owned mine for 2 years and enjoyed it. It was fun to play with. BUT it's definitely not the greatest thing in the world. There are better cars out there and cars that do certain things better. Price points aren't always the same in some instances, but it makes me laugh when people compare these cars to cars that are nearly 3 or 4 times as much and they pretty much dismiss that car entirely, saying the Toyobaru is so much better. It's comical. I traded a 2012 WRX that I owned for a year for an FRS. I still say to this day, throughout my entire FRS ownership experience, that the WRX is without a doubt, the better all around car. No comparison. The end. Anybody that says otherwise is just out of their mind and needs to be evaluated. The FRS is a niche car for a niche buyer. It's a very appealing car for that niche buyer, but it's still a niche car. So why did I trade my WRX if it was so much better? Because I specifically wanted to get another RWD lightweight coupe. Something that a niche car, like the FRS, had to offer. A large majority of people looking for to buy a vehicle want the most for the money. When you're talking about a performance vehicle, this still stands true. For $25,000, there are quite a few cars that offer more bang for buck that can be statistically shown (not the "feeling" of something). So, for $25,000-$30,000, you see people choose other cars like: Civic Si GTI WRX Focus ST Mustang Ecoboost A typical buyer who goes shopping for a 25k-ish car goes from one dealership to another. He sees the BRZ for about $28,000 at a Subaru dealership and wants to test drive it. He likes it. It's a bit small, and not very fast, but he likes it. He then looks at a WRX for $26,000 at the same lot and drives it. He likes it as well. It's more spacious, more usable, and is quite a bit faster..all for a cheaper price. Chances are, the buyer would opt for the WRX unless they SPECIFICALLY wanted what the BRZ had to offer. If you're just looking for a 25k-ish car that offers a good level of performance, there are realistically quite a few better options. ft86club: brainwashing BRZ and FRS owners since 2012.

The cars you listed do not compare to the twins, except for the eco-boost mustang. I am not saying those cars are fun in their own right, but other than the mustang none of those listed cars can provide the same sort of performance as a twin. The metric you are using is 0-60s and quarter mile. Edit: Unfortunately, 1/4 mile times and 0-60 sprints seem to be the only metric anyone really cares about.

As far as handling, I've never been more disappointed with how a car has felt on The Tail than I was with the FRS. It feels as exciting as making a yellow light. |

The 86 is a one trick pony that is mediocre at something NONE of the cars other than the Mustang can do. Just say you want a 0-60 car and be done with it. It's okay, no one will judge you.

Totally agree that the FRS is a niche car but comparing it too the others and saying they are better "end of story" is doing exactly what you are pissed at others about. Apply your own opinion to anything you want but if you are going to say your opinion is the only right one then stop shooting off you mouth that others feel the same way about theirs. There are better cars and there are worse cars and opinions on them vary that does not make it "brain washing". Just because some people get a tad overzealous about their cars does not deem you their superior and allow you to pass judgement on them. I may spend some quality time and go back through the forum and find at what point you became a bitter, disillusioned, anti Twin spokesman.

LOL The CSG WRX barely qualifies as a "WRX" in more than name and basic body shape anymore I am sure!

Oh, and it rotates (but not enough to require countersteer) under power as it sits. The BRZ/FRS's saving grace against the WRX is its weight. If the WRX were pared down to the twins' weight, game over. |
