That would explain it. One of the best vehicles Chevy ever made, they should still make it. Between the two I had I literally drove them far enough to have gone to the Moon and back, with almost zero issues. But, when they died, they died hard!

Not quite. It also takes into account your current MPG, so it does fluctuate.

In my previous cars, I pretty much just always tried to fill up when I was around 1/4 tank remaining just to always be safe.

I hope it switches to gallons per hour when you're idling, that is good information to know. Speaking of which, any current owners able to chime in on this? Does it just say 0.0mpg when you're stopped, or does it give you gph?

Would GPH actually be that useful to you? Do you know of a few vehicles with this? I know many commercial trucks now cut the motor after idling over certain times.

How much can you idle; its great for boats but why would you want your car to be idling for hours in the first place?

I suppose it's not actually that useful, but it's better than a display that reads "---" or "0.0", which is just completely useless and stupid. Knowing idle GPH might make some people consider turning their engine off more often, and if you're stuck in say a closed off mountain road where you don't know how long you're going to be there, knowing how much fuel idling costs you would help you make a better choice as far as fuel conservation goes. I believe VW cars have the GPH reading in neutral, but not sure if it's across all models or if it even exists in the US (I noticed it in a VW Jetta taxi in another country).
