If the order is in your name and especially if you have a deposit down then it is your car. It should be treated as sold.

If my dealer pulled this shit I'd be more than happy to take my deposit back and tell all about it on the forums. Tell your dealer if they want a demo car they can sure as hell get one. They have no right to use yours.

My dealership ended up being fairly smart in this regard also.. order #6 which is actually coming in the first batch ended up being for the "owners son".. it's a 6AT Limited.. and it was ordered as a demo vehicle.

I'm more nervous about the truck drivers doing deliveries, whom I've seen and heard of slamming cars on the ground by driving them way too fast off those trucks.

With my old 2004 WRX, which I bought "new" with 456 miles on the clock I learned the hard way about the importance of the break-in period. It actually costed me a engine, out of pocket!

I am glad the OP caught that practice because it is soooo dealer black-list worthy IMO. If my dealer did that to my car, or attempted to, then I would tell them to sit on it. I would also tell everybody what they did to my car.

PecanSandies: after reading your post again, I would encourage you to add that dealer to the black-list. If what you are saying is true (and I have no reason not to believe you), then that dealer WAS going to demo the hell out of YOUR car. To hell with them... as if you did not wait long enough for your car, only to find that it was gang-banged! Behind your back no less?!

A poorly broken in car (which is what all the demo-drives would have amounted to) will never run right, and it will let you down big time when you have to perform major repairs, which were not your fault.

Black-list 'em.

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt until I talk to them in person next week, rest assured if they try and pull this nonsense I will.

Agreed, if all that is true definitely blacklist worthy.

My dealer is getting a showroom car that is for display and test drives. 6AT WR-Blue premium with fog light kit. I was unaware of this until today. So that dealership is getting 5 cars total. The 1st pre-order and the showroom car are in the first batch set to hit east cost dealers at the end of may. Kind of glad my pre-order will not be for test driving

If I get to mine and realize it has enough miles for anything more then the normal mechanical test, I'll walk. I wouldn't even give them a chance to offer another one at invoice. Three grand off isn't enough for the piece of mind that some fu@ktard didn't bend it hitting a curb and then re-align it and replace any broken parts. I didn't give them a deposit MONTHS before to get a used car.

Blacklist them.

This makes me want to call SOA directly, because my dealer has absolutely zero information. It's making me suspicious, considering so many others here already have VINs & arrival dates (and some lucky bastards already have cars).

I made my pre order in mid March, am 6 of 12 at my dealership, and have a VON. My dealer has been straight forward with me so far, they even signed "sold at MSRP" on original order form before we knew what final cost would be. They never requested a deposit(which I was completely ready to put down) and after reading similar posts to this I am getting a little worried. I am starting to think back to my Business Law 101 class am concerned that since money was not exchanged, making it not binding, they have an out on the agreement. Thinking about going there and forcing them to take $500. I hope I'm just getting paranoid, any suggestions??

I expect many dealers may want to do the same with the first batch of vehicles to eek out some more orders.

Just something to be mindful of I suppose. I am going in Monday to negotiate the final price and handle all this malarcky.

Also thought that we should all post up any words of wisdom you can offer to others as the time to take delivery approaches.
How did you come by this info? Did you grill them until they folded? Not saying it's not true, but I would just expect the stealership to lie through their teeth and never admit to something like this.

I was warned by my salesman who said he would try his best to snag the keys and call me asap but that I as the customer should bring it up to prevent it from happening. I'm not releasing the name of the dealership till I speak to them in person I really just wanted to give everyone a heads up before they take delivery of their own car
