Rather than just "getting an alignment" it's important to "get a good alignment." You'll at least want the factory camber bolts up front but depending on your goals, you might want LCAs, camber plates, or aftermarket camber bolts. What type of tires and what size do you plan on running? - Andy |

I installed the RCE Yellows almost 2 months ago and I'm very pleased with the results. I wanted a lower more aggressive look, and ride comfort as close to stock as possible.
I really wrestled with what springs to get, because I don't like to waste money by buying twice. I have not noticed more understeer than with the stock setup, but I don't track or AutoX and I don't push my car in that way on public roads.

Does anyone have experience with springs/coilovers which can raise thee ride height in the winter months?
I'm interested in something like a +/- 1" from stock. Everything seems to lower the car by x. |

Is there ever a plus to understeer besides suicide?

LOL
But same question, since I'm new to this all. Any reason I would want the understeer? Because I don't know about tracking and all, that word seems to have such a negative connotation. Like as if I would try to steer and it wouldn't steer enough and cause me to go too straight, lol. Or is it understeer as in I would just need to steer the steering wheel a bit more to complete a turn? I'm pretty close between the RCE and Hotchkis now, but leaning forwards whatever will be more cost effective and works with stock parts. |

Statistically understeer is typically "safer", and most stock vehicles come from the factory with a tendency to understeer because recovery from understeer requires a more natural reaction of simply slowing down while pushing/sliding. Recovery from oversteer takes more skill and practice, you don't want to just abruptly lift off the throttle or hit the brakes when it happens for instance, but it generally means the vehicle has higher traction limits and is much more entertaining to drive.

More than likely I'll be going with RCE Starter Kit. It's a bit out of my price range, but worth the investment. I'm going to do some canyon and mountain runs, which is why the understeering feedback scares me, but I'm pretty sure it'll be safer compared to my tail swinging as I make a sharp or quick turn.
Just another question, is it severe understee or just slightly compared to stock? Would you say it'll be safe still for doing quick turns while maintaining speed? |
