Idk about a religion thread but the last politics thread got into a tl;dr shouting match if I remember correctly.

And I really feel a religion thread might end with somebody insulting a group of people or something and a fire ensuing from there.

I know it's things we like chatting about (I love talking politics and religion!), but when you present an open topic like that to such a diverse group, you can end up with too many people that think they are right and everyone else is wrong, which can lead to someone getting kinda hurt by something said.

I feel it's better to keep things a bit less controversial.

My $0.02...

I would rather have the freedom to express myself than to have my freedom taken away. let me decide what i can and cant do. if people get offended thats there problem. Thesame can be said for car modification, if someone doesnt like the spoiler i put on my car then why should i care what others think, its my way of expressing myself.

people were offended when a black women sat in the front of a bus, it caused controversy but eventually she won. do we not learn or do we continue mistakes from the past?

I'm just saying that people post up things like "Oh Muslims are Terrorists, don't be a Muslim" and "Jews are miserly and stupid...blah, blah, blah" and that stuff's not cool.

Did one of your threads get deleted?

i obviously agree that those comments should be deleted or dealt with, but my thread wasnt even out of hand. My thread was locked.

Some other forums have a special section (with visible disclaimers) for religion/politics. Slippery slope, though...

So whos idea was it to remove the 'vehicle:' identification info on a car forum?

And who really cares how many times someone was 'mentioned' or 'tagged'?

Can this be reverted? Id make a poll to demonstrate the forums' opinion but Id bet its pretty obvious.

No politics or religious discussions please (not sticky'd as a rule in the OT forum).

And freedom of speech is a constitutionally guaranteed right in public and government locations, not a privately owned message forum. Nobody's rights are being infringed upon.

Being able to post on a privately owned forum isn't a right actually, therefore freedom of speech doesn't apply in this case...

Totally agree with this! Only, may I suggest that post deletions (never happened to me, I think?) be taken seriously.

Specifically informing the poster what made it so inappropriate that it had to be removed via PM.
Im just sayin' if its bad enough to be deleted it should be bad enough for points.... wait are there points here? Rather not find out the hard way

We can apply infractions which I believe notify the user of why automatically. Except for spam and obvious cleanup deletions ("reported" posts, etc) I do notify users. If there are a bunch if deletions in one thread I'd just post in the thread though.

Spammers are getting sophisticated look at 'Birthdays' section on main page.

Anyone need an instant loan?

(Accurate as of today...)
