saw the report from auto shop today.
all the details n parts that need work done on.

all came out to be around 21,000 .......
do you think insurance company will total it or decide to fix it......
its 2015 automatic, only 7 months in and 4500 mileage on.......

theres no damage to the engine bay and all, lots of things need to be replaced tho

personally, i think fix it saves me a lotta time, impossible for insurance company to just replace me a new car, plus if they write me a check , i need to personally take money outta my pocket to purchase a new car, which takes time for all the research n test drive and shit.

what do you guys think? how much can i get if they decide to write me a check?
its my first car, really wanna keep it tho........

Damn, my condolences. Almost the same damage as on mine when I spun out 180 on an on-ramp ($17k, it was totaled)... that one was all on me, though. I'd be pissed off that it happened because of some other idiot's recklessness.

The bright side: you get to buy a new one and skip all the first-time owner mistakes that you made on this car.

Down-side: Maaaybe your rates will go up? Mine barely moved for some reason. I also got 100% of the value back after adding the cost of aftermarket tint and exhaust (6000 miles)

My insurance has a 5 year policy that if the car is totaled I get full value
Also
I paid a little more when I financed that does the same thing, stupid on my part, but I never knew my insurance had that policy
I would look into that first

I didn't have to argue anything; the claims adjuster did her best to get me a fair amount which, at 6000 miles, is pretty close to the amount I paid minus some trivial depreciation (a few hundred bucks).

I was freaking out at first too, thinking the accident was gonna cost me dearly, but I learned this: You shouldn't have to treat your insurance as if they are trying to shortchange you; their job is to make you whole again, not to make you hurt every time you file a claim.

Unless, of course, you have one of those insurance companies that are known to be cheap even to their own customers (starts with Guy, rhymes with Co)... in which case, I hope your premiums were low

funny thing is ive been waiting for few days alrdy after the auto shop did full inspection and sent insurance company a estimate of cost to repair. 21k. and auto shop as well is waiting for insurance compnay to get back to them, otherwise the car is still sitting there, night after night which i guess costs $$.

with that big ass amount of repair needs to be done, the insurnace compnay will 100% total the car? cuz i called my dealer and told him about this, he was like oh ya thats a def total loss with that large amount of repair work on it

i probably will buy the exact same car after i got the big check from insurance. think i can get my full value back? how should i push it to get the max value outa it?

Remember you won't get back the sales tax you paid, so thats a couple thousand right there; plus figure a couple thousand depreciation for driving it off the lot. I think getting a check for $24k would be generous, but thats between you and insurance.

False. See the snip from my claim below. My car actually had less than 5000 miles on it (almost the same as OP), contrary to the 6000 that I mistakenly mentioned earlier. The way I see it, the difference of a few hundred below what I paid OTD is the cost of me driving the car for 3 months.

They should calculate the fair market value of your car at its current mileage, compensating for depreciation. Whether or not they will compensate for mods depends on your policy.

At $21k in damages, it's almost guaranteed a total loss. Depending on how well your insurance company takes care of you (it does vary between different companies), you have a good chance of netting zero from this incident.

If you ultimately want more payout than what you are offered, the burden is on you to provide evidence that your car is worth more. E.g., find local listings of a similar car for sale.

You misunderstand. Insurance bought the totaled car from me and I used the money to buy a new one.

Not sure about the sub-frame but the rear axle was messed up as well as all the lights and panels on the drivers side. OP will get a new car for sure.

shit happensssssssssssssss

It may be too late now, but make sure to let them know that you want only Subaru genuine parts on it. Usually they will quote it with non-genuine parts if available. Once upon a time my S14 was rear-ended, and requesting Nissan genuine parts tipped it over the total loss threshold.
