I disagree. The engine family was in service for 14 years. At its peak it hit
202hp from the factory on the last gen sr20ve(and even more when you swap some oem n1 cams and bolt ons)

Can we get the SR added to the list now?

For those that haven't driven a K20, it will make your FA20 feel far inferior. Hands down the best 4cyl NA I have ever driven.

The first time I drove the FR-S, I actually noticed the torque dip and how it felt kind of slow in the low RPM range compared to my 140hp 1996 Celica. Not a terrible engine but should not be on top 10.

I don't think our engine is in top ten too, but being NA along with today's emissions. It did well enough. There is a reason why everyone turboed their 4cyclinders... Even the mighty Honda.

Trust my k20 felt much faster then the fa20 I thought something was wrong with my car when I first took it to redline.

Well I was saying to the guy that said you need internals and full valve train to make 220whp. With all of those added it can make near 300 whp. You can just add a k24 block with a k20 head and those numbers will get there no problem. A boosted k20 makes 400+ on stock internals

128hp/litre

Quite good when bolted to a 1300lb Cateram too.

But none of those engines help reduce COG.

A flat configuration usually forces the crank/flywheel and trans to sit higher than they normally would for an inline or V engine layout, which counters some if its supposed built-in advantage. I would bet that a 2.0 V4 would be a better configuration for center of gravity and packaging than either an H4 or an I4.

Horizontally opposed engines are not the be-all end-all of maintaining a low vehicle center of gravity. If I'm not mistaken, a Corvette has a lower center of gravity than the twins or any Porsche.

absolutely right. A c6 z06 has a cog of 17.5", twins are at 18".
But the LFA also has a lower center of gravity w/o a boxer engine.

The question that should be asked is, "Would the c6 z06 or LFA have a lower center of gravity with a boxer engine?".

LFA achieves its low COG through the expensive engineering of an extra shaft to transfer engine output up a few inches to the transmission.

There are swap kits to put them in Miatas and MR2s though.
