I only got a gasket for the collector/front pipe. Do I re-use the gaskets for the heads?

Either reuse the gaskets or buy new OEM. I bought the installation kit from JDL, but I'd have just reused the old gaskets because they're MLS.

That's what I figured. The gaskets were in perfect condition so I used the same. I successfully installed the headers today, but I'm getting a loud flappy/clicking sound when I step on the gas. Anybody else get this? I'm going to assume a leak

Sure sounds like a leak. Make sure it's seated nicely on the overpipe.

I called up JDL and they said that every header they've installed with the stock overpipe had produced the same sound i described earlier. Can anyone else confirm/elaborate? Many thanks

I have just received my EL header and I DO NOT have any flex joints on it. My order was placed during Black Friday of last year. After receiving it, I called JDL Auto and they just informed me that they no longer use flex joints on their EL header design. There are flex joints on all the pictures on JDL web site and the forum; and I did not find any information on the web about the update of the design nor was I informed regarding to the change of design during my order. Did JDL also change the flex joints design on the UEL header? Can anyone else on the forum who had received their header recently verify with me on this information?

The first couple headers we built roughly ~2 ˝ years ago didn’t use any type of flex joint. When we decided to make the headers a production part I decided to utilize a flex as OEM does and frankly at the time didn’t have enough usage on the prototype headers to deem it unnecessary . This backfired on us big time as Vibrant performance flex joints we were using all failed resulting in us warranting the first~30 headers. At that time I built a few more headers without flex joints to put a few local buddies’ cars so that I could monitor them as the prototypes had all been sold. We continued using the flex joints just switched to a different brand and style. Fast forward 2 years to now and there has not been 1 single issue with the non-flex headers on cars. I feel comfortable going forward without the flex joints. This will help the headers become more of a production part and should cut lead/wait times down in the near future. If anyone has any concerns, etc PLEASE feel free to call. As always the headers are backed by our lifetime warranty that we stand behind 100%.

Thank you for the clarification. I just wanted to verify if any other members of the forum had received their header without the flex joints. I did call and speak to Debra on the phone. She was very kind and she tried her best to help. The welding and the quality of the header is definitely top notch.

PS- if it does it at idle and after being fully warmed up, then its most likely a leak.
