Wireless charging magnetic mount

Wireless chargers for the car seem to be sparse and I wanted something similar to my magnetic ngroove snap. I wanted to be able to get in the car, place my phone on the mount, and have it start charging. I have yet to see one that works without an ugly dock so I made my own.

What you need:

WCP-300 QI charger. The cheap $8 ones on Amazon might work the same, just know that I used what I had on hand.

Powerful magnet that is 3/4" in diameter or smaller.

Nano suction cup tape. This is what makes the dock stick to the phone effortlessly.

Mountek Ngroove snap

Double sided tape

You can see how the whole thing is assembled here .
Basically I opened the WCP-300, drilled a hole to put in the magnet, sealed it back up. Then I put the nano suction foam tape on the top of the charger. I double side taped the charger to the mountek ngroove snap. And that's it. It's pretty clean, holds my phone and charges it at the same time, and doesn't fall off. The suction cup tape is super strong and doesn't leave any residue since it's not sticky.

Video of the whole thing in action.

I'm having trouble following what is going on? How is the mount attached to the car? When I googled it it looks like it is supposed to clip into the CD mount but that clearly is not what you've done. What is the magnet for? It just aids in the suction tape holding things in place?

What do you have on your S4 to allow the wireless charging?

thanks

I have the mountek ngroove sandwiched in between the dash trim. The magnet pulls the phone into the charger. The charger has nano suction tap on the surface to hold the phone. The only modification to the phone is installing the OEM wireless charging back door.

Gotcha, thanks. I couldn't figure out how the ngroove was sticking in place.

Is the magnet just pulling on the metal in the phone or did you install a magnet inside the phone as well (which is what the ngroove comes with I believe). Just didn't know if it reduces the RF strength.

The QI charging back door on the S4 is magnetic. Most of the samsung ones like this are magnetic. Doesn't hurt signal strength, been using the Ngroove normally for years.
