There is no need to block, force over, brake check or any of the other things being said here.
So what if somebody is cutting in and out or pulls in in front of you. Many of the things people say they do here are more dangerous then what they were supposedly "stopping" others from doing.
Some douchbag wants to weave in and out of traffic and try to get ahead of everybody that is fine with me. Just let them go and be done with it.

Frankly, I agree with you. 99% of the time, I get out of the way or let it happen and let the guy move on, and hope there is a cop nearby that will see the idiot and pull them over (actually did happen one time). But that other 1% of the time, I am having a bad day or just a short fuse, I get the "red mist" and go into battle mode. I usually end up feeling badly about it.

Agreed. The thing is, they're not "stopping" others from driving like assholes and you can't "teach them a lesson". That's how they've always driven, and they'll always drive in that manner until something serious happens.

The rules are simple and as follows:
1. The left lane is mine. GTFO
2. If you are not going at least 10 over the speed limit, GTFO
3. If you dont know how to drive, signal, merge on and off the freeway properly, dont get behind the wheel.
4. Refer to rule number 1.

Bullshit. See where I said I had a choice between blocking him or taking a frozen snowbank head on at 25mph? I will always cause an aggressive driver to take the hit rather than me. I watched the exact same thing happen today at that exit and it turned into a three car accident with the lead car getting totaled when a Benz cut her off and a Suburban rammed her at about 35.

If you've never driven in the Bronx you can't possibly understand how greedy people are for a couple of inches. This morning I got cut off three times, once bad enough that I had to miss a turn and drive an extra 30 minutes/ in morning rush hour traffic. It was either miss the turn or get rolled over by a Flat Rate Moving truck.

I reread your post and I see what you meant, I missed the "them or me" sentiment the first time. In that respect, I understand why you did what you did. What I took issue with was your seeming joy at watching someone else getting hurt.

Maybe it was just because your post wasn't quite clear, but wouldn't you avoid a spot (as in be in a different lane) that you know is literally an accident waiting to happen?

Would if I could. This is the end of a three lane highway and the right lane splits off 1/4 mile before then the last two lanes split at the very end. The "exit" I need to use is one car wide but with a two car wide mouth narrowing to one wide and this time of year snowbanks really put the squeeze on. Because there is room for two cars to be side by side at the mouth of the exit people try to use that to scare the patient folks into slamming on their brakes so they can get one car ahead. We have a bunch of old roads that were poorly modernized and things get a bit hairy sometimes. It's not too bad when you know where you should and shouldn't be.

I think people who speed up and not letting people merging in have ego problem. IMO lane merging in mean signal light had put in request and another driver should accommodate; if no signal and just cut in than that is unsafe driving.

when i was driving in seattle, a lot of drivers were like that. too bad their cars were slower than mine.

Sure when someone is legimately trying to move you let them in. It's the ones that are trying to get an extra couple of car lengths ahead and dive in at the last second and leave everybody else to figure it out. Don't you love the ones that just push their way in because they're pretty sure you don't want to deal with an accident so they figure you'll let them in.

If I'm almost right next to them and they want to all of a sudden come in (the point where I'd have to slow down) I'd be hesitant especially if they clearly look like they want to rush everywhere and drive erratically, but if they clearly have enough room in front, I'm not going to be that guy

I dont speed up on purpose, and I follow the speed limit most of the time, what usually happens is that i come onto passing lane, and before I have the change to go back after passing cars, a huge SUV or big luxury sedan will appear from nowhere and tailgate, I usually speed up just a little and then move over only to watch them pass and realised the road has a bend and they cant make it, and brake, and then I sail passed doing my constant speed
