I'm not sure what was smushed into what but the top one doesn't look smushed properly.

An easy way to locate a ticking sound like a rocker is to get a stethoscope from an auto store. unlike the Dr. type it will have a rod on the end (about 12in.) that you can place against different parts of the engine. A single loud rocker is easy to find. The same for an injector.
