Valve tick?

Can someone please direct me to a thread where I can find something that is related to my issue?
The issue is when I'm driving on the freeway and no music and windows are closed, I could hear the valves ticking kind of like on the passenger side and they get loud when the rpm rises. I'm assuming it's the valve and it sounds like it is low on oil but just had a oil change in the same month. Mileage right now is 20K and it wasnt tickihg like that before. Should I use a heavier oil?

Did you change the oil yourself? If not, make sure the shop put in enough oil. Could also be an exhaust leak.

Done by the dealer. I even checked and the oil is new

If the oil is low, the oil indicator on the cluster should come up right?

Take it in and have it checked!
There are many threads on the subject here but not every sound means the same thing.
This may help you a bit.

That oil light should be called the "you've just blown your engine" light. By the time it comes on the damage is done.

Attachment 102024this is the dipstick right now. I guess the oil is too thin, you can barely see where the level is at.

Wipe and dip again. But, if its making new noises I would take it in.

mtblackfrs 02-07-2015 01:38 AM

I did. That is actually the 3rd time to make sure what I was looking at. Yea I may have to do that tomorrow.. The tick noise is kind of similar to the miata HLA noise. I used to drive one that's why I'm familiar with the noise.

It's not injector noise is it?
These things make sounds that would have had me cringing in terror with my old V8s!

mtblackfrs 02-07-2015 01:50 AM

No not the injector. The tick noise is rapid. I'll try to take a video in a bit.

Listen to my ticking noise...and compare it to mine.

I have that tick too.. Lol.. So actually there are 3 kind of noises I'm hearing and that's one of them. The others are the chirp and the other is somewhere around the passenger but inside under the hood.. Can hear more when you're actually driving and inside the car is quiet.
