This "not always right" is about me being wrong in my own assumptions as the technician:
So I spent two years working IT for a university... 60% of the problems were porn related, 30% were turn it off and back on, 8% were RTFM cases, and 2% were actual unique problems that took some detective work. And as all of you that have worked these jobs know, it takes about 3 months before you are so jaded that you want to bitchslap everyone that walks through your door. But every once in a while you feel the urge to really help someone with as little inconvenience to them as possible... I had a female professor bring in the family computer because it was "acting weird." Told her no problem and reformatted it with it back in her hands the following day. But about a week later she comes in and tells me I must not have cleaned everything because now it had a lot of inappropriate popups. So I tell her not to worry and that I'll get it all this time. Needless to say, I assume that the husband has been on sketchy porn sites but I'm not one to put him on blast like that, so I check to see what kind of filters I can put in place, but as I'm snooping around I realize that the search history isn't that of a grown man searching porn. The queries I see are things like: "Boobies" "Hot Girl Boobies" etc... So I call up the household number making sure to call when the professor isn't in and talk to the husband about introducing their pubescent son to the world of internet porn properly. He was really cool about it all, and assures me that he'll take care of it. So I reformat again and have it back to the professor by day end, using a bunch of tech jargon to throw her off the scent. Long story short, she never came back with problems and I patted myself on the back for a good deed done well.

I work in Dunkin Donuts and some of the stuff I see and hear on a daily basis makes me lose hope for humanity.
Theres been people that order like 5-6 sandwiches then take 3-4 out the bag and say they were missing to get more free. Trying to use an invalid giftcard with a receipt from a different one to try and get a free giftcard. I had to add this one. Some dude drops his sunglasses in the store when he's leaving, some other customer decides he likes previous customers sunglasses and puts them on and leaves. First customer sues me saying I have to replace his sunglasses. Then the prick doesn't even show up to court which I had to waste 5 hours of my life for nothing. Theres so many i'll save some for later. Last edited by Kotu100; 02-09-2015 at 06:38 PM. Reason: added one |

The backlash must have been quite flattering. I was a little heartbroken but I understood where you were going with it.

I've got no shortage of stories after working as a graphic designer and IT support... For instance one time a client wanted me to do a poster design for an upcoming event, it was pretty vanilla stuff so I saved him some change and used a photo I already had of a big crowd of people looking at the camera. When I asked him for final approval he was really happy but just had, "one small little change." He asked me to rotate the picture I had use, which I thought was odd but I obliged by rotating it a bit to the right... and I shit you not...
Him: "No, not like that! I want to see more of the sides of their faces!" Me: "Errrr Sir, it's a flat image you can't rotate it like that" Him: "Sure you can! Just Photoshop it!" Me: "Look at this piece of paper, if I rotate it it stays flat, just like the image" Him: "You need to work on your skills more, I bet I could find a hundred designers that can do this!" Me: "You're welcome to try, but I guarantee they will tell you the same thing."

Showing a client the finished draft of a project...
Client: I love it, just move the text a little to the right. Me thinking to myself: It's a non editable PDF and I really don't want to open everything back up just to make stupid changes. **Taps right arrow** Me: Is that better? Client: Perfect!
