The dealer knows they can sell whatever car they get in, a nonrefundable deposit is not necessary.
I agree. I would never put a non-refundable deposit down either on a car I have never driven and might have reservations on.

I guess there isn't anything to lose putting a deposit down on the GBS premium, worst case scenario I don't like the color/trim and I back out, costing me gas and time. The pro is that I got to drive a BRZ

I wish these people would just cancel their preorders instead of backing out at the last minute so those who really do want a BRZ can get one sooner!

After telling the first dealer that I wouldn't put a non-refundable deposit down, and thanking him for his time, he sent me an e-mail saying that he "was doing 3 things at once, and meant to say he needs a deposit which is refundable".

I'm really thinking about going to them now, mainly because they have WRB which is my #1 color choice.

But everyone has different opinions on color and the person who said it is right, don't compromise on color. If it's not the one you want, just wait till you can get it in your color.

Of course...make sure you give GBS a good chance though, it's so beautiful and you'll stand out from the other BRZ's which will be mostly WRB

Go for it, its a win-win situation for you. Put a deposit in the color you want.

I am salivating for my GBS to get here, but I wouldn't compromise for any other color so I understand your hesitation here. Go and put it down for WRB!

I'm thinking about it a lot. I've been looking at photos of both the GBS and WRB and I love them both, I don't think I can go wrong either way.

I cancelled my spot on the BRZ if anyone is in the Minneapolis area. This was at Bloomington Subaru. I believe I was seventh on the list there and they were scheduled to get 9 cars this year. This dealer (as well as Subaru in Brooklyn Park) both are selling at MSRP with no markup and deposits are fully refundable. Brooklyn Park is getting 12 cars in this year, but I am pretty sure they are all accounted for, but you can check to see if someone dropped out.

Bloomington Subaru has a BRZ in the showroom you can sit in for two more days. So if you want to check it out, stop by there. Salesman are pretty decent there.
