I had looked so forward to driving the autobahn when I was there. One of the guys had his 75 Trans Am shipped over and we took her out for a spin. Don't think we managed to hit 80 km/h due to the congested traffic. We were very disappointed to say the least.

I've cruised my GT86 at 200 km/h for hours on the Autobahn.
Top speed registered was 235 km/h (on the speedo, OEM wheels and tyres, and favorable winds).
Thing is, it gets boring rather quickly.

Oh, and over here we've decided to give the Germans a break and not mention the 1940's until they bring it up. They rarely do.

At least in North America, West of the Rocky Mountains the drivers are generally suicidal. Roughly East of the Mississippi River they become homicidal. In between is somewhat safe but nobody in their right mind wants to live there.

Yeah, hundreds of business including Toyota have left California over the past few years and many have relocated to Texas. It isn't just guns, most would rather have something left in their paychecks net after taxes.

Strangely though, 40% of TMS employees, about 2,000, are resigning rather than move to Texas despite huge cash incentives to move. If anyone wants a job with TMS in Plano, now is the time to apply.

My dad is an electrician with TMMC. He's in his mid 50's, my parents are mortgage free on their house, almost have the cottage paid off and their rental house pays for itself. I think it's pretty safe to say that if the factory decided it was going to move to another province, he'd quit and just retire on schedule.

What would your Dad say to an $80,000 cash bonus + paid relocation + paid rental home (up to $2,500/mo.) for a minimum two year committment in zero income tax Texas? That's part of the incentive package not factoring a probable promotion and pay increase well ahead of normal time to fill a vacant slot.

I'd jump on it for two years and then retire, even commute to/from SoCal on weekends if desired.

However, this a huge opportunity for TMS to shed staff while hiring lower cost replacements...or robots, not sure which.

Depends on the person. I would be more inclined to stay put then to live in Texas again. 80k is not nearly enough lol.

CHL? concealed carry licence? Yes, very difficult or nearly impossible. You need a job where you carry large amounts of cash and have potential to get robbed. My friend's dad has one for being a tow truck driver, but he's had it for over 20years.

My friend has had two interviews with toyota in texas. He says he can pay off his house in texas in 5 years vs 20-25 years in cali.

Yessir, that's what I was referring to. I've only been to Cali less than a handful of times, and it's definitely gorgeous with lots to offer. I have a buddy that lives there now and mentioned that I should pack up and head out there because of how awesome it is. I briefly considered it...

But where do I shoot my AR? And how much jail time am I looking at when I get caught with a .45 on my hip?

Those are two questions that most Texans would want to know the answer to before heading west young man.

Venture into Central Texas and I bet most people would be happy to make the move, especially with the low cost of living comparison.
