Bootcamp is also a free utility on Macs that allows multiple partitions. I'd try that out- guaranteed to work because the Windows OS is on its own partition on factory code

Noob question again. Will I be able to pass an emissions test without flashing the ECU back to stock?

And yes, you need to provide your own valid copy of Windows. I used a college program back when I was an undergraduate - many colleges have a deal with Microsoft to offer the OS for very cheap (< $20).
For what its worth I use VMWare 7 on my MacBook running OS X 10.10.2. I initially tried Windows XP without success but once I created a Windows 7 virtual machine all was good.

Lol not free, but I'd sell it for about $20 shipped.

Bootcamp was what i considered too, but I didn't want to have to restart and I like the dynamic sizing of Parallels.

Not sure how your state tests emissions but I think you'll be ok. In NY it's an OBD2 emissions test looking for a check engine light and if there's no code then you pass.

This will most likely sound very dumb, and possibly "squady/squidy," but I'd like to know the answer.

With the stage 1 tune, the FA20 makes an induction/valve tick noise at around 4K RPM. What is it exactly? I understand its "normal" but what is making the noise? Could it be something with the cams or sprockets? And lastly, the dumb question, is it a healthy noise? Will there be any kind of damage in the long run from running with this noise?

Thanks!

This is normal. All the current USDM 6MT v2 maps is based upon B01C rom. So once you load a map, it will always show B01C when you look at ECU info. Despite you having to still load A01C compatible files. This is because your original/stock file was still A01C.

So don't load B01C maps then and stick with A01C?

If your original ROM was A01C then the openflash software will not allow you to load anything other than the A01C Roms. What Shiv is saying that the bases files all new 6mt tunes are based off the B01C rom and have had their calIDs changed to work with your ECU. In effect its just like going to the dealership and having the newest CalID loaded onto your ECU, without all the hassle.

Out of curiosity, similar to ECUTek, the new ROM's bring us current with the whole injector seal fix, correct?

Every time I try to download the v2.063 files from the OpenFlash website, it says the .zip is corrupted. Anyone got a working copy they can send me?
