And Tahoes. On my commute I usually see chargers and impalas as I leave the apartment, next I pass a small town that uses camaros, then I usually see state troopers in crown vics, and when I get to the city my work is in I see Tahoes and sometimes a crown vic.

Canuck kops HAVE TICKET QUOTAS !

But officially not of course.

Here's how it works - virtually everywhere in Kanuckistan - and I've seen it in Amerika as well.

Young officer rookie wants to be a TV detective, not a taillight chaser, so come yearly evaluation performance time the NCO says - "I see you are below average on your traffic enforcement - hmmmmmmmmm - you will have to balance your enforcement before your next evaluation."

Another way they do it is units of work per hour of patrol time, (considered free time as the officer is not on a call) a traffic ticket or a caution is supposed to be worth the same brownie points, but are not recorded the same allowing supervisors to enforce a non official quota.

There are other ways also.

Then there are the smaller municipalities with small town departments, - and any kind of small town hillbilly inbred nonsense takes place amongst the kops including official quotas, bribery, bestiality etc., no different than anywhere else.

Unfortunately a major change is taking place across Kanada's policing, that of stronger local political control, so politicians can enforce their agenda!

Forget about illegal traffic tickets - politicians have instructed large police forces to illegally charge citizens for the political party agenda, and this practice is rapidly growing (more so amongst our provincial socialist socialist governments).

AND unfortunately is SOP in the RCMP. The donkey walloppers are the federal police force and is responsible for many illegal criminal charges. The commissioner (Chief) escaped censure for that behavior recently by going on a paid 6 month maternity leave to be with his wife (LOL). The Prime Minister of Kanada wanted his blood !

A cop about to pull a car over usually has his mind made up, he is fishing, and when the fish comes along little can be done by the fish to prevent being caught, politeness helps, but behavior to make the cop feel safe goes a long way. You have to watch your meta messages and body language very carefully.

Kops are people, and people although the same, they are all different so expect the unexpected.

Your comment is appropriate for a cop.

They like naïve people, easy to control, less dangerous.
Those who know what's going on can stop police abuse.
As always - Knowledge is power.

If you wish you can pm me and I can cite chapter and verse.
You can check Martin's etc. for the stated case references.

By the way folks -

If you ever see the Wyatt Earp complex, when the cop gets out of the car, its usually a rookie. If you see it in a veteran, its dead wood complex.

A rookie can be thwarted by more knowledge and experience. Old age and treachery beats youth and exuberance every time.
A veteran knows our outs, and can thwart them and is less afraid of departmental censure - you WILL be raped.

In each case, don't call him sir (it empowers the cop) - the cop should call YOU sir. Be polite obey all commands, and advise him he is being recorded (just like the Toronto cops do now). Play it by ear, don't use all your ammo at once. Watch any escalation. And believe it or not, being friendly is dangerous with savvy cops, its a technique used by real bad boys to hurt or kill the cop.

I'm not a cop. I simply have prior knowledge from a past career choice I wasn't fond of. But hey, by all means wear your tinfoil hat if that's what makes you feel empowered and safe.

Just saying, you won't be taken advantage of if you aren't a plug. Every ticket I've gotten, with one exception (out of province ticket, and I was lazy) I've fought and won. My dog tags have saved me from a few tickets (speeding and one more a touch more serious than just a HTA offence) and because I know the HTA quite well, as well as federal law I don't get taken advantage of.

I wouldnt pull over for a car like that.
I would keep driving and call the police and tell them if they want me to pull over, I better see a marked police vehicle behind me.

There have been a rash of officer impersonators in my area pulling women over, and they havent caught him yet.

Fully marked cruisers are getting rare up here. The ones with any markings at all are frequently the light grey reflective "stealth" stickers.
They use all sorts of weird and wonderful vehicles and you had better stop when they flash you!
