15 FR-S "base" starts at $25.7k, but that's before you add on the delivery fee. So you're not too way off, but it's more around $4,100 away from a Release Series 1.0 at $30,760, which is with no optional equipment but with the delivery fee.

Personally, I'm not too much of a fan. I like the interior, though I can care less about the seat texture. The yuzu yellow doesn't do it for me and neither does the lip kit. (Front lip kit looks like they manufactured it incorrectly, therefore not fitting and aligning properly due to the obvious gap between the black on the lip kit and the foglight section of the bumper.) Considering I can get a Monogram Series for less, but with more features, (that I like and find useful) and add on the "JDM" TRD lip kit and quad tip exhaust, totalling the $$$ spent to just a little over the Release Series 1.0, I'd rather go that route.

Is a monogram really worth it though? Maybe I'm the special kind of person who doesn't really care for the extras it brings to the table. I can live without heated seats, push to start, dual climate, factory HIDs and whatever else I'm missing. I was drawn to the FRS because of its simplicity. However, I can definitely agree with where you're coming from.

Edit: just googled it's features. For the extra couple thousand, definitely a good deal and for what you pay for, you get quite a bit over a standard model. Wish I did a touch more research when I was buying, but my discount would have only applied to a new car anyways so it's not a big deal for me. I got something to the tune of 24xx off sticker so I'm not going to be sad I didn't search too hard for a used Monogram.

In my opinion, that defeats the purpose a little bit, but to each his own.
I don't know why anyone buys a special edition vehicle and starts swapping out exterior parts. That seems crazy to me. I have a release 1.0 and the only stuff I plan on changing is under the hood (with the exception of the wheels) and I plan on keeping every part I remove. I had a 240sx before this and keeping everything original really helps the resale value because the buyer knows the care was cared for. Not only that, but if you've swapped out half the parts, it's not really a limited edition anymore, is it?

I can understand all that. Definitely a good idea to keep it mostly stock on the outside and keep all OEM parts for when you decide to sell it.

The bold part, I can agree and disagree with that. I mean, it's still a limited run, but going and changing out a bunch of exterior parts kind of defeats the purpose. One member on here said "I wanted something unique so I bought the RS1.0 and will be changing other body parts" On one hand, ok cool. I get the reasoning behind that, but why not just buy a base FR-S and put the parts on that you were planning to put on and get it painted a colour that the car isn't offered in. On the other, it's a little more special than any other RS1.0 because taking a limited run car and changing the outside ensures that it really is unique.

But taking this to another level, if someone did this to say, a Porsche GT3-RS people would be up in arms if you went and did something drastic to the exterior. I know that's a bit apples to oranges, but it's in the same vein.
