FRS RS 1.0 Hate thread

Flame me, hate me, close this thread, delete this thread... whatever..

Is it just me or do I not understand the hype over this car? You're spending about 6 thousand dollars more on a not so great exhaust and some slightly lowering springs, and a trd body kit which really... doesn't look that good? I love the natural flow of the lines on the ZX6 platform. This just looks like somebody built a body kit out of some legos. All you have to do to make this car look amazing is get some nicely offset wider wheels, and a 1.5" drop. And maybe a lip kit that doesn't take away from the already beautiful body lines. YOU DON'T EVEN GET NEW WHEELS ON THE RS 1.0

I guess I'm just not with it. Or perhaps the automotive media over the past 15 years has pumped so much into hyping up body kits that people get weird erections for cars that have them now? A slightly different bumper design possibly could have nailed this car. Look at other brands... the higher end models or special editions get a redesigned version of the bumper. Not just some 3M'd on kit.

Blah... I'm just gonna go count my grey hairs and drink another beer

If your going to compare it to any car compare it to the monogram or 10 series not the base model, as it comes with the HID, push button etc... which then makes it a couple grand more.. IF your into the steering wheel and other TRD parts then its a deal..

lol, don't know why people would lose sleep or grey some hair over a special edition of a car. if it's not for you, don't buy it. pretty sure series 2.0 is already in the works for next year. i pray for those who stress over stuff like this. :P

Okay true, I've seen stickers for monograms at 28k. And I've seen stickers for the RS 1.0 at 31.9k. That's still 4 thousand dollars. For a few trd bits and some New York taxi cab paint.

Lol I'm not stressed about it. I just don't understand the hype. I see so many people get excited for it and I'm over here wondering how when you step back and look at the bigger picture.

The grey hair reference is a stab at myself for what I presume to be getting old, because I don't understand the premium. Whatever it is, it's working. All of these special editions will sell quick.

I can understand where you're coming from, OP.

However, if the buyer sees the value and makes the purchase, then it's worth it for that individual... No argument.

I personally am more attracted to simplicity (less options / features) although the RS 1.0 did attract me as I was making a purchase decision. Opting and negotiating for a '15 base Premium BRZ leaves close to a $7k - $8k difference for the same performing car... Granted the RS 1.0 has plenty of pretty cool features and an exterior color which truly separates it from all the rest of us.

I say, if the buyer sees the value, then it's a winner. Don't know if there will be any leftover like some Monograms were on the lots for a while.

Eh, people said this about the Series.Blue too. I love mine and it turns heads everywhere I go. I do think that the RS 1.0 looks a little ricey but it's still cool. It's nice to see some options when buying these cars.

Not exactly spending a lot of time thinking about it. Just every 86/brz page/club I'm a part of I see it almost daily. I see people getting so excited over it and I fail so see why.

At least with the series blue it doesn't look tacky, and you get some nice looking sti wheels even if they are the same size as the bases wheels. I'd drop the side skirts in favor of slats though.

Again if your going to compare, dont try the lowest you seen one and the highest you seen the other.. locally i saw 28 for the monogram and 30800 for the 1.0.. IF your wanting the TRD parts its a steal, otherwise its a frs.. nothing special to anyone other then the people wanting those parts.. and paint is subjective.. i think ultramarine is a ugly color, and asphalt is the best, why i own the asphalt.. but i do love yellow sports cars also..

I'm not aware of the actual MRSRP on both. Nor was that a purpose "lowest vs highest". It's just what I've seen while drifting the forums. I know it's each to his/her own. Honestly cannot stand yellow myself. Again: to each his/her own....
