Surely enough the backrest on a brand new brz also had the exact same problem minus the squeak... I'm just gonna buy recaro seats in the future anyways but this rly pisses me off everytime I drive the car.

It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
Weird, my backrest is solid, try sitting in another "new" brz...

I think I have the same noise. It sounds like its coming from the seat and it sounds like a squeaky spring mattress that has all rusted out springs.

The noise is probably coming from the seat belt clip rubbing against your seat. For me, the noise is present only when I'm on a bumpy road ( I live in Michigan, so that's every time). THe next time you hear the noise, try pushing the seat belt clip away from the body and the noise should go away. I'm still trying to find a solution to the problem. Maybe some kind of a cloth/layer between the seat belt clip and the seat?

I sprayed white lithium grease into the connections for the seat belt clip and my squeak went away.

I have the same problem and moving the seat belt clip seems to fix it temporarily. Did you find a better solution?

I took it to the dealer and they said they would replace the seat belt clip and that should solve the problem. They still haven't got the part yet and I'm waiting for their call - also, I'm out of town so it might be sometime before I get back and get this fixed.

Will keep you updated as and when I get it replaced.
