Squeaky Brakes?

I've had my fr-s for about 2 months now with about 3000km on the car.

When I start the car after it's been off for a while (usually in the morning or after a few hours) the brakes are really squeaky. It goes away after i drive for a little while though. I was wondering if it might be due to the cold weather/rain or if I should actually have the dealer check it out?

Anyone experience the same thing?

Perhaps surface rust on the rotor. Probably nothing. My brakes don't make any noise, though it barely dips into the negative Celsius. I will say my car makes more noises now that it's cold.

Daily occurrence on cold and wet days for me. The car sits in a parking garage while at work and usually the first time I brake for the exit barrier will be squeaky. Sometimes the first stop sign, 50 yards away will get a squeak too.

I'm assuming it's either rust or water that needs to be ground away and I'm not worried about it.

I've always been surprised at how fast surface rust develops on rotors. It's harmless, but so quick! Chemistry, how does that shit work?!

Like others have said, it's most likely normal. I don't have much experience with cold weather and rain but usually after I wash my car its squeaky for the first few stops.

Same thing here, it squeeks when I get out of my driveway...and it's the only time it ever does it.

Yep, like everyone else said, it's just surface rust! Totally normal, it goes away pretty much after a couple short stops. If your car has constantly squeaky brakes that don't go away, it's an indicator that your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced.

I know right! I was shocked at how quickly my brand new rotors got rusty looking.

My brakes do this as well almost every morning.

This is completely normal some rust quicker than others depending on iron content. Parking garages, especially closed and below ground level can be very humid conditions. Couple that with wet cars and salt, they'll start rusting in very short order.

Unprotected steel often goes through an acid etch prior to painting even in a production line it happens so fast and is invisible to the naked eye in the beginning. Oxygen is the catalyst.

The only time brakes should squeak is when they are grinding the rotor from the pads being worn down to nothing, or aftermarket cheap pads were used.

That has been my experience over 5 cars, 20+ years, and hundreds of thousands of miles and numerous brake jobs.

Mine will squeak the first time I apply the brakes after it's been standing overnight in below freezing temperatures. Not an issue imo.
