vortech v2, squeaking noise, gates belt

the car is making a squeaking noise. definitely coming from the belt because me and a master tech tried silicon spray. car didnt like it at all but after work i drove it home and it was gone.... but the next few days it came back gradually.

any ideas? trying to fix the issue now before turning up the boost
could possibly be an alignment issue?
bad belt?

Probably alignment or tension issue. But most likely alignment.

Most of the time, the squeaky sound comes from the pulley and its bearing. You might have wore out your bearing possibly due to tight belt tension or just wear and tear.

i have a similar issue and have been chasing it down for months now. Did you find the problem? new belt, two new idle pulleys and i'm about to replace the alternator. This is starting to really piss me off.

havent figured it out yet, been experimenting. the cars my daily and one day i accidentally sprayed silicon spray on the teeth.... squeaking went away. would come back once in awhile. going to figure it out later when i actually have time to take it all apart and inspect. noticing alot of wear and tear. disappointing...

Really? Master tech sprayed lube on your belt?

Time to order. A new belt
Keep it clean and grease free
I treat that like religion

This. Try the gatorback belts, I've had good results with mine. The recommended belt shed a lot of rubber dust, the gatorback belt I've got on now is silent and there is much less rubber dusting and the belt looks great.

I'll have to give the dayco a shot if my gator belt ever decides to skip town

My kit has been squeaking for some time... Decided to look up the gatorback today and they are on sale for $13.49 on Amazon. Worth a try and figured I would share.

if you don't have the steel idler pulley I would do it at the same time as the belt swap as added insurance

I installed a steel pulley a long time ago and I'm not sure if it helped the squeaking. Hopefully this works. It's pretty embarassing.

In my case it wasn't a matter of which one to like, as the plastic one failed and the steel is easily found at most parts stores

Did the steel pulley give you problems?
