Hardly new and improved technology. Some of us actually like DRIVING our cars. The rev matching feature is nifty, but I can still do that with a little blip of my throttle between downshifts.
It's nice to have an actual dual clutch paddle shift transmission in a car like 458 Italia, Aventador, Mclaren, etc. because it actually accentuates the cars performance level. It lets you focus on driving that car to the best of it's ability. Our platform does not need anything more than good old fashioned manual transmission because its best can be reached and over shot pretty damn quick.
If you picked the auto because you daily drive, or sit in traffic on the freeway. I sit in traffic on Los Angeles freeways constantly and have never had an issue. Not to mention, we have one of the lightest clutch pedals from the factory ever!

Except keep your hands on the steering wheel.

I'll Red Barchetta that one.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAvQSkK8Z8U"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAvQSkK8Z8U[/ame]

Actual Barchetta...no turbo as referenced in song on this model. I think the newer models are ugly.

I drove both cars before I bought. I liked the manual better. Some of the rev matching features (software) was pretty lousy for jumping on it at low speed. More laggy is a good word for it. It was running straight auto BTW. Quick shifting was nice. But my 23 mile one-way commute runs the rural route instead of Oregon's two worst freeways, 26 and 217. This was THE deciding factor for me. If I was a dedicated freeway runner in rush hour , I'd have gone auto. But the rural route won. Also, a manual is easier to get it to let loose than an auto, that's half the fun on wet rainy days with this car.

That's a lot of ratio range on the gearing, good to know. Serves the dedicated autocrosser/race crowd real well, regardless of transmission.

An oil cooler makes sense and i was planning on one until my engine seals started to go. I can understand that mod.
Sorry, I misunderstood your statement. I am not modifying my tranny, but modifying the car, suspension, LSD, 4.88's. But not going FI. At least not for a year anyway. I did add a tranny cooler, as well as an engine oil cooler.

I bought my 2015 white 86 last month in AT cause I was tired of driving a manual in our stop and go traffic. 15 years of manuals is more than enough for me as a daily driver. No regrets whatsoever. I get the best of both worlds and I'm happy. I get kids trying to race me on the highway, but, I bought the car knowing I could slide the rear out through the corners, not for overtaking people on the street.

Does anyone know the programming of the torque converter lockup?
Generally speaking, autos don't need the same ratios as manuals because of torque multiplication in the converter, but I've seen it stated that the lockup is very aggressive, which would diminish that effect.
We really need to get control of the auto.

IT'S LOWEST!!! NOT HIGHEST!!! Don't you have some torque cones to stick in something?

You could start with sport mode.

WTF are you talking about?
Again... if you could be so kind and explain your point?

Lol... Always makes me grin when I see manual transmission drivers act like they can drive their car any more than auto owners

Gave up on that old technology years ago when I realized that modern autos are far superior. Hehe.

The manual tranny will be out of production within 5 years... Better maintain your cars ...!
