Obsessing over 0-60 in this car is kinda stupid since you have to shift right before 60. Like ok, my TSX stays in second well through 60, but the FR-S I'm sure will be much quicker overall. They're both 200hp NA cars, but one is like 500lbs lighter and RWD.

Anyways, the car seemed to pull really well up through high speeds, so you guys don't have anything to worry about lol. You'll be able to get speeding tickets just like anyone else.

Can we estimate a 1/4 mile time instead of focusing on the 0-60? I estimated a little under 14 seconds. (Quarter mile = about .4 km)

1. Intro to video is MOTORSPORT PRESÉNTE
2. Speedo is in KMH
3. OP's location says France

The car seems quick enough... I don't think anyone expects to break any speed records with it. Even with more power, it's the gearing that is going to hurt anyone who "needs" a higher top speed.

I watched the video again in 720P and you are correct about your time. Watching the video in anything less is not clear enough.

Very true. After looking at some of the prices. The FR-S is in the same price point as the sti or Evolution.

Really? STI lists at $34,095 before options. The FR-S is about $5000 under.

The BRZ top trim is $29,380 or $4,715 under the STI.
The FR-S at it's cheapest it $24,930 or $9,165 under the STI.
Unless the dealers in NC are putting absurd markups on them, they are far cheaper then the STI.

OK, that is what I thought. I am not counting markups because a savvy buyer could get around those.

not bad! 0-60 was slightly slower than expected, but 60-100 and above looks good to me!

For people that at least somewhat care about numbers:

I drive a 2003 Eclipse GTS (stock) right now, and I compared this video to a video I did of me rolling from 10-100. Then, i compared it to an e36 M3's 0-100 time because my dad has one and I was curious to see how the BRZ stacked up.

Now these arent exact because I just watched each video a couple times and used my iPhones stopwatch to time, but here is what I got:

Eclipse GTS 10-100 (rolling):
10-60: 6.9
60-100 12.1
0-100: 19 secs

e36 M3 0-100:
0-60: 5.7
60-100: 9.2
0-100: 14.9

BRZ 0-100:
0-60 (97 kmh): 7.3
60-100 (161 kmh): 9.5
0-100 (161 kmh): 16.8

So it will probably feel pretty similar to my car up to 60, and then feel more like my dads car from 60-100. Which will be nice, cause I wouldn't say my Eclipse runs entirely out of breath up there, but it's not as quick as I'd like...not that I'll be going to 100 very often! But again, dont read into these too much. We'll know what it's like when we have ours!

Also, do we know if this is an automatic or manual? I'm not sure if the gauges look different for automatics...but the way the throttle gets blipped as he slows down makes me feel like it was an automatic.

he was in 5th doing 124 so manual, the auto does 124 in 4th

difference between the auto and manual
manual 60-124 = 3-4-5 gears
auto 60-124 = 3-4 gears

the guy is just heel-toeing as he slows down, i do the same at every stop light, its habit after you've been to the track enough, and keeping up the habit during daily driving helps your track performance plus you'll be in a power gear if you ever need to make an emergency maneuver
