Something to note is that with the base set of pulleys, we're not winging the C38 out at all. As a base, the C30 is spec'd to rev up to 7800; The C38 with the same pulley can rev to 8900. Dropping the C38 down to meet the engine limit of the FA would.... well increase the boost significantly. |

As I said, if they were at the SAME horsepower level, the powerband of the smaller unit would be better. You can see in that graph that the boost curve of the smaller unit is more linear. I also said it would be a small difference, but that it would be a difference. On my monitor there's 2mm between the boost curves at 2000rpm, and 5mm between them at >7000rpm. The pink curve is pulling away from the blue one as RPM goes up. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
Show me a C30 and a C38 both at 300whp on E85 and I would bet money that the C38 will have slightly more area under the curve, all else being equal. |

Lets take the 275hp mark, since neither kit hits 300hp on the graph. At that mark, how is a C30 making power 1k rpm later, being consistently below the C38, and lower peak hp number a better powerband...?
If your sticking point is that the C30 is more linear which seems negligible at best, you could likely account for those fluctuations with differences between the tunes themselves. Quote:

Which is to say that at least in that last regard, I think we're saying the exact same thing.

I am planning on going C38 as I would like to aim above 300 whp and it seems from what I have read above there are no issues being slower than the C30, if I read this correct. Any issues running 93/94 octane on the C38? I am unable to get E85 in Canada, so I will be running 94 octane. |

Hey Chad I purchased the same deal from rickspecd. I'm going with moto East 91 octane tune. They will read my logs and make corrections. I will probably always run 94 in it but I need to be tuned for 91 in case I can't find 94. Moto East tunes have been recommended to me by so many people. Can't wait to try it!

a belt driven supercharger doesn't have the lag of a turbo setup, so its basically the same powerband length, just a slightly stronger growth rate.

Move the C38 boost curve OR the power curve down so it's matching the C30 at peak. Copy it EXACTLY, but move it down a few mm so that both superchargers are hitting the same peak number. What do you have now? THAT'S what I'm talking about. If they both peak at the same power number OR the same boost number, the C30 has more area under the curve. |

Just curious more than anything...I see in the first couple pages that people have to disassemble the blower and rotate it to get the right angle on the mounting plate. Is this still the case? or do they now come ready to mount? Mine is still packed away til spring, once the snow starts leaving I'll be more motivated to start playing with it.

you might however want to see these start at the same place to see what additional hp is being made and how much sooner. the dyno already roughly does this and better yet tells us the real story, but just for hypothetical purposes, if we advance the C30's graph by roughly 100rpm, so that they both start at 50hp, you can see that there are marginal gains from the C38 up until about 5600rpm, when it starts to increase the gap and hits 275hp roughly 600rpm sooner. in general a nice point as well is that it looks like the C30 might have some difficulty getting to (and maybe very far past) that 300hp goal anyway. moving past it not being relevant to the goal, but getting to it, yes, very pertinent. seems like the bottom line is being able to make his 300hp goal easier, earlier and faster on a C38, with more left on the table if he gets the power bug.

@KraftWerks I know I need to use a crank pulley holder to get the crank pulley bolt out, but how did you hold it to torque it back up? With the cogged drive gear on there you can't fit the holder into the pulley?

Depends what you want Chad... The 30 and 38 are going to have pretty much the same output until you change injectors and pump. I got the 38 for a steal so why not... If I ever want more its there.
