I actually dropped a tree on a previous project car. It was just a shell, I was building a motor, had the transmission done, and was in the process of removing weight and getting ready to modify the engine mount locations. So, not as deep in as you were, but still pretty committed. We had a hurricane come through and one of the trees in my front yard partially cracked. Ut was a big fucker, a ~fifty year old birch. It was hanging there, cracked about three feet up from the ground, with the wind threatening to finish the job. Because of the way it was leaning and the crack I had four options, let nature take its course, or cut it so it took out either took out; the power line, a corner of my house right above the nursery, or so it landed on the car. After that I sold everything I could and quite the scene for a few years.

Delicious Tuning has made a few posts saying they like ppe's header. You'd have to use google but it might be worth searching for.

They're also promising results from testing on several headers that should be out soon. I would be very surprised if the ppe header wasn't included in that along with JDL for some stiff competition.

Google has 3 pages and nothing official but a half ass dyno saying they are not sure if it is the official run or if its for that car or not. I have faith but cmon man it just takes one official dyno run.

Boy was your story hard to take in. After all that effort a tree?!!? Ill tell you after that accident i stopped from the mod scene for 3.5 years. But the frs i couldnt stay away from

Take this header w/overpipe for: $789
Add in Nameless downpipe w/resonator & high flow cat: $484

And you have a kick ass exhaust system for only: $1273

This is the cost some companies are asking for just a freaking header.

So tempting to pull the trigger. When I tax time gets here in a few weeks if things go well I think I'll bite.

I'm guessing you're in the DFW area? Would be interested to check it out sometime if you decide to do it.

The price point, like you noted, is what gets me. I think PPE offers more affordable stuff because they focus on R&D and putting product out with little to no marketing.

Ptuning, P&L, Nameless, and JDL are all very proud of their stuff.

PPE also said he can make the header in the 304 SS for those who are interested. I'm waiting on one more email back from him for some final questions I sent his way.
Wait so it's not made out of 304 ss??

Not unless you specifically request it. Which adds a little bit to the cost.

From our emails:

"
.The stainless his a stronger material and you can wrap the stainless headers with a heat wrap which works a little better than ceramic coating. The stainless steel header is about the same price as a ceramic coated mild steel header.

a.Ceramic coated mild steel header with merge collector and over pipe: $899.00

b.Stainless steel header with merge collector and over pipe: $899.00

c.Ceramic coated stainless steel header with merge collector and over pipe: $1049.00

Guessing it's like 202 steel then. Wonder how it'll hold up.

Anyone have any thoughts on the difference in collectors?

A. Formed collector with spike
B. Parallel Merge Collector (+$110)

Hey all I contacted PPE directly and wanted to post it here to share with you all.

My email:
Quote:
Looking at your FR-S header.
What is the difference between:
A. Formed collector with spike
B. Parallel Merge Collector (+$110)
Also it does not appear the header is made from stainless steel. Wont the product rust and corrode from water and road salt?
Their response:
Quote:
Here is some information between the two types of collectors.
http://www.coneengineering.com/results.html

The merge collector flows a little better than the standard collector. We use them on the race car headers we make, there is an FR-S that will be running the Pirelli World Challenge this year that is using our header with the merge collector.

The standard version is made of mild steel and ceramic coated. We can make you a bare 100% 304 stainless steel header for the same price. You can use a header wrap on the stainless version or we can ceramic coat it for $200.00 more

Our header comes with a 2.5" over pipe and the ceramic coating price includes the over pipe.

I have ppe headers with overpipe on my car. Didnt opt for the parallel merge collector or any form of coating. Headers sound great and combined with an oft tune provided a nice gain in power. Quality seemed top notch also. Great product!

Quantify gains in power, please.

I did all my power mods at once making it impossible to calculate how much gain is due to the headers.

and I don't understand why people care so much about dyno numbers on this platform especially on na variants of this car...seems pointless to me
