You guys do know that since our ride height is so low sometimes a van may go over a bump and it will look like they switched on their high beam at us... That's a possibility as well. To be honest with our ride height we aren't likely to be considered shining in anyone's eyes

This.
I get "flashed" from behind by corrollas and small cars but thats only when they go over a bump.

So I need help with tire setup for spring, should I go 255/35/18 for my 18x9.5 +40 or 245/49/18? And will it rub if I drop an inch? Would appreciate some insight.

I've considered that scenario. There are times where that is the case, and I don't flash back in those circumstances. But it's easy to tell the difference between someone hitting a bump and someone blatantly flashing you, the latter of which has been happening to me.

255 will rub on the stock spring/perch so I would stay away from that until you get coilovers. To get around that what you could do is get camber adjustable top hats and make them as negative as possible and then use camber bots set to fully positive so that you get some clearance. Im not 100% sure it will give you the clearance you need but on my 18x9 +35 thats what I did to make 255 work. The 245/40 option is what I run for the DD, it increases the diameter of your tire a bit more than you'd ideally want but you barely notice it especially if you have light wheels. IMO i will be sticking with the 245 40 because it offers more protection to the rim and it seems to sit flush with my wheels. I also like them because I can pick up tires for less money since they are the oem size/popular choice for guys with WRX STIs

Why do you guys go with such huge rims exactly? Is it primarily for looks?

Because #stance #flush #Hellastanceflush
lol

Looks is a big component of it because it makes the car look more compact and aggressive. I'm sure wider tires will give you more grip but with stock power you probably lose more time from friction of having a big contact patch

If you're staying near stock power, 17x8 on 225/235 is the way to go. 17x9 +35 is a great option as well if you want to stay flexible on BBKs and perhaps more power later. My personal recommendation everytime is RPF1 17x9 +35.

My future plan is 18x8 wedssport tc-105n with 235s. No too wide, but good enough for occational track day etc but still looks good as well.

Hey guys! My friend and I have been going over the idea of making a DIY garage and meet-up lounge in the Toronto area for a while now, and finally we decided it would be time in 2015. We see this as a unique opportunity to bring together the love for all that is motor related in a comfortable and well equipped space within the community. Right now we are in the late planning to early implementation phases and we would love to hear some feedback going forward from the local enthusiast community. Planned opening will be later spring or early summer! Location TBD.

To tell you a bit about the planned shop: we are planning 3 bays for cars and 2 for motorcycles. We also plan to have an enclosed area for detailing with all the fixings. Each bay will be equipped with a full toolkit, air tools, work bench and some sort of media browsing device for your articles/YouTube. Specialized tools will be rented separately. The emphasis will be on bringing together the enthusiast community in an environment that encourages sharing your skills, knowledge, and in the successes of each others' projects.

Visit our website, register with us and give us a little information about yourselves at. This way we can get a better understanding of our potential customers!

Grease Monkey Garage

With this said, and as I’ve mentioned before, we’d love to hear some feedback on what you guys think of this, any questions or concerns and where your interest level would lie. Cheers!

Thanks all,

Grease Monkey Garage Team

GreAse monkey. Great idea. Be sure to be able to host car club meets. I feel that'd be a strong business op.
