Hmm... LOL let me check when the nearest CHP station closes. Maybe I'll do that and as for my tint I'll just say oh yeah its not that dark, its just night time it appears that way.. >.< HAAA. We will see how that goes.

I said "yea, my cars right outside in the front, I parked backwards so it's easier to see" he then grabbed a pen and signed it without going outside.

You could possibly get lucky like me, but id still say to ziptie the plates to your car just incase he really does go look. If you're lucky he will just look from a distance. And maybe, just play dumb about the tints if the officer does make the effort all the way to the car. Possible have a dozen donuts on top of the car and be like, "ohh how did these dozen donuts get here? *wink wink* haha

I'm not lawyer, so this is not by any means legal advice!

The only thing connecting your car to the ticket is the plate. As long as your plate matches the car -- you're good!

get a ceramic tint in the front it doesn't look like you have tint. it doesn't let the UV in which makes the car stay cool

I went through with this once and the chp officer didn't even leave his desk. I was all asdfghhjkk but better to do it than for him to come out and check. Taking off the tint was easy anyway, steamer + razor blade.

just keep it simple. take the tint off, get whatever kit you want for the license plate (I recommend the skene mount), and pay the ticket lol then just get the tint again if you want! lesson learned lol

A couple of websites came to mind after reading this thread:

TintLaws.com for California

3M Crystalline Automotive Films

The 3M Crystalline films reject most of the heat, even with relatively light tints. You could probably get by with the 90% light transmission film on your front window without any trouble, and still block a lot of the heat. Of course this wouldn't do much for nose pickers.

My advice, correct the violations and have it signed off. You can listen to everyone's opinion on this website, but at the end of the day it's your responsibility and if you do something wrong you're the one in trouble. This is just a simple infraction. Get it taken care of and you'll have no problems. If you try to go around the law and get caught you'll be in even more trouble. You can have any sworn peace officer in the state of California sign your corrections off, then take it down to the nearest court pay the admin fees and you're good to go.

Similar story but for a different violation. I recently got a ticket for modified exhaust. And i had to go to a CHP office to get the ticket signed off or stamped with "violation corrected". So my ticket with a stamp "violation corrected" is my proof of correction.

Again, any sworn peace officer in the state of CA can sign off on a "fix it" ticket. If you get a ticket issued by a CHP officer you can have a local PD officer sign it off.

Go to your optometrist and get a prescription that allows for window tint, put a plate on and then take off plate

There is no medical excuse that will dismiss the law. You will still get cited even if you have a doctors note. You can not have tint on the front windows of a vehicle that darken even the slightest bit.

you sure? If not dismiss then for next time I heard that when a cop pulls you over and you show them a prescription for a tint they can't give you the ticket.
