3. They have a very high grip rating in Euro dry and braking wet tests

As the OP...

In the dry you will get 100% grip, fine. You can go to 105% the limit and get a bit of tyre squeal. Go to 106% grip and the the level of grip available falls smoothly to about 85% and you slide.

In the wet you can go to 100% wet grip fine (probably about 80% the dry grip on a clean road), you can go a little more and get a tiny bit of float, but when you actually get a slide, the grip levels drop suddenly and unforgivably to about 60% or less. So if your not expecting that kind of grip drop off, you'll get a surprise. If you are expecting it, you get a load of fun at lower speeds.
This is absolutely fantastic!
1. It's in English, completely free of incomprehensible colonial slang.
2. You are correct about everything. (That "Prius tyres" thing was a joke by Jeremy Clarkson.)
3. You make perfect sense.

You've earned a golden star.

Having learned English in schools where we were taught that any word not listed in the "Oxford Learner's Dictionary - Abridged Version" does not exist in the English language, has left me poorly equipped to understand great men like Sylvester Stallone and Paul Hogan. Words such as "Whatca" bewilders me.

I know you wouldn't talk down to us intentionally.
Some of the Aussies (and even some other North Americans) have issues understanding some slang as well since it can be pretty regionally/demographically specific.
Stick to the phonetics of the words and most will make sense if you take it far enough
Whatca = What ya = What you? = What are you? Frequantly followed by doin' (which should be self explanatory)

I am perfectly able to write in ideal English but it is no fun whatsoever.

Ain't that the truth!! 16 degrees out on dry pavement and no way could I accelerate on a left turn from a red light with out kicking the back end out. Made me wonder how bad it would be if a deer jumped out and I had to really hit the brakes.

When I first got the BRZ I call Michelin to ask what the lowest temp these tires can be used in...they told me no lower that ~45 degrees F !!

Everybody talking about slip in the cold understands that OP is in Australia where it is summer now right?
And they all know that he not a "new" guy by any stretch.

Tilting at windmills. Most can't handle the concept of time zones.

Stock tires slip, I'm surprised that no one has brought out this guy (although the humour may not go worldwide (for those of you who don't know, it is Captain Obvious (from Hotels.com))):
