I believe this was a US study result but basically 2 cars outsold over 30 cars because no one is interested in this market anymore besides a select few. Values are dying hard.

Why do you think every automaker is now offering 4-6 CUVs?
You make a good point. Sports car people are dying off that's for sure.

You forgot the time factor. Toyota had a ho-hum initial market response to the 2000GT that for about the same price was a difficult sell against a 911.

Yet the most recent auction price was well above $1,000,000.

Not saying a mass produced car would do anywhere near the same, and the collector car market is extremely volatile, just pointing out that some 2-door sports cars have done well over time. Picking the winners when new isn't always an obvious choice.

IMO, a well preserved special edition stock twin will retain value and probably increase above initial cost...if you can wait 25 years.

I'm not so sure about that. While a stock 240sx does have good resale value, they don't go for more than they cost brand new. There have already been more 86s made in 3 years than s2000s. Plus, the updated models will probably end up being more desirable if they add more power.

Me neither, maybe wishful thinking, but it's surprising how a numbered badge can potentially add or at least help preserve resale value.

Also, those cars are just now approaching 25 y/o where they become classics. Difficult to find a clean, stock 240sx, but this would be the time to find one before or if they appreciate.

They set the standard for ownership experience. No wonder they win all the awards.

When I brought them my IS-F alignment specs far out of factory spec that I gleaned from an auto-x forum they did it without hesitation...after I signed a waiver.

Dammit, now you have me thinking about one when I'm supposed to be downsizing.

Enjoy your new ride, looks like a great car.

Personally I hate, hate, hate the new Lexus pinched in grill treatments.

For the $62K or so, my vote would be C7 hands down.
