I did my car but I'm looking at upgrading my coolant at the end of the month when I swap all my other fluids. What do u recommend for the stock cooling system?

I am chasing some strong, yet light, 16 inch wheels that can take a 225/45 Advan 050. Any suggestions as the all the wheels I am chasing seem to be discontinued.

Cheers,
Jeff

You guys seem to always like the RS3s, but according to Tirerack they underperform compared to the competition.

Care to add anything? (I need to buy some soon)
Tirerack caters to AutoX. They're a HUGE autocross sponsor, so their tests gravitate that way as well.

There is no 1/3 mile road course that track guys drive at... the *smallest* track we drive in SoCal is 1.8 miles.

Distilled water with wetter is the best *coolant* you can get.

Now if you have to worry about freezing.... not the best idea.

That makes sense. Seeing as I prefer roadcourses I guess the RS3 is a better choice (even if I am using it on an STI)

Lol I might run that for track days now that I've mentioned it. But we do get snow and ice here in the NW and last year it was the end of February when we got our big snowstorm lol. So probably not the best idea for dd.

Are you seeing issues with that part of the cooling system? Unless you are boosted you should be fine with the default Subaru coolant/radiator/etc.

Oil cooler on the other hand is important for tracking.

It'll be a track day as Motor Sports Ranch in Cresson TX

I suggest XP10 front and rear at minimum. XP12 F/R if you want additional capacity. PM for more info.

Lol I've been running a mishi oil cooler with temp/pressure gauges for almost 2 years now.

@CSG Mike hey since I dd as well as track I'm thinking about adding water wetter additive with fresh fluids. The engine comes with submarine green but would u recommend swapping to Toyota red?

I plan to track my car several times this year and I would like to change pads at home. The closest track is about 45-60 minutes away. Would these pads be okay to use at the track and for the commute to track and back?
I also run with the local autox clubs and I am wondering if these pads would be suitable for autoxing also.
Thanks,
JP

I've done it, the pads I used were fine once I'd been driving for a few minutes so that the brakes weren't ambient temperature. That said though the first stop in the morning is kind of long.

About autocross, why do you want to use non-street pads for that? The only real reason I can see if for higher mu, but then you need to be aware that either you have to warm up the brakes before your first run OR that your first run will be substantially degraded thanks to reduced braking capacity when cold. Personally I would use street pads for autocross (I use DS2500 for street and autocross, I still think of them as street pads).

Just use any coolant; you'll be okay.

I am having an issue that I believe is fuel starvation but want to see if anyone else is having similar issues or if it is something else.

The issues always start when I am getting close to 5/8th of a tank left. It is only happening in two places and both are long high G left hand corners. The first set of corners is a three corner assembly that is run at between 75-80mph at 1.1g and the entire section takes about 10 seconds. I start having issues about 3/4 of the way through the following straight and then it starts cutting out. I enter into the next turn, which is another sweeping left hander done at similar speeds but is only about 4-5 seconds. Once I come out of that I have no power for 3 or 4 seconds when it first starts happening and about 10-15 seconds once I get below half a tank. Once the power comes back, I can run the rest of the track fine until I reach that section again.

First, is this fuel starvation? Second, if so, what options do we have to handle this? Running E85 the car is burning through 3/8 tank in a 30 minute session and there is no e85 within 20 miles of the track, so I can't easily keep it at a full tank.
