Let's you move around the app folder or hide it and get rid of the Dock. I didn't like the Dock being locked down to the right side of the screen.

Would it be possible to do this build with the Stock double din player instead of purchasing a new front loader?

I know space might be an issue but are there any other reasons this may not work?

The space is there I believe. The problem would be aux input and how to modify the stock brackets. Honestly sell your stock unit and use the funds to purchase what you need.

Also I used the auto rom for a little bit on my 2012 nexus 7. It worked well but not as smoothly as timurs rom. I still recommend timurs rom.

Also I recently got a steal of a deal on a nexus 7 2013. So I'll be installing that this week.

hi was just wondering.
1.how do you connect to the odb if your phone is connected can you have multible connections going at once??
2. i dont care about the antena. im only gonna play music through apps or the music player on the tablet. so can i just skip that step entirely?
3. if i dont set up a microphone and just use the head unit harness for the set up will the stock mic still function?
4. why do you need to use the v otb cord? can you not just connect the aux on the head unit to the nexus aux port? then run a regular otb cable(which is 100000 times easier to get)
im eager to hear your input! if it wasnt for you i would have never been able to figure out how this all works. so THANK YOU! i pulled an all nighter last night to figure it out now all my parts are ordered and the head unit bought (i got the one that has the app for your phone and bluetooth)

1. My phone is connected to the Bluetooth of the head unit, not the nexus.
2. If I remember correctly you need to have the antenna adapter so that the stock amp starts up properly.
3. No, unfortunately, the stock mic doesn't work.
4. Timurs kernel requires a Y OTG cable for the fixed installation mode. If you search on Amazon they are pretty easy to find. For a future upgrade path, definitely get the Y cable. As for the auxiliary input, a USB DAC has MUCH higher quality sound. It's like night and day.

Unfortunately you can't get the rom any longer for the first gen nexus. Nor do I have it. If you have a first gen nexus 7 I would get auto rom.

If you follow my instructions above the head units runs your speakers.

As for volume for the speakers... Set a volume that's too high to listen to normally then back off the nexus 7s volume. Or use a remote or an app for the head unit (Sony and jvc) to control the volume through the nexus 7.

My head unit has Bluetooth and it switches to my phone when receiving calls or starting calls.

Recently I installed new speakers, a sub and an amp. These are all connected through the head unit and would work as they normally do.

Remember you still need a head unit with above method but it just needs to have whatever features you want. I would lean towards a sony unit right now.
