on your original post about the lower pressure zone of the vehicle engine bay, should is opperative, but highly applicable. Track settings *SHOULD* be harsher than normal street driving and kick up the temp a bit, and the forward motion of the vehicle will help to "Pull" the disappation of the heat into the venting areas. this would be especially applicable in a moderate climate area (opposed to my Hell, AZ)

What I'd be interested in seeing is *HOW MUCH* this assists disappation and if it creates any drag on the outside of the vehicle. I would assume, if any, drag would be minimal at best because of the fine mesh he's using, but that's your realm, aero man!

This is the tool I used to cut the opening. A angle grinder with a cut off wheel. I basically cut between the factory attachment clip holes.

Spent a full day at Oregon Raceway Park yesterday. Temps were 80s and very humid. My engine is stock with a external oil cooler. Doing 8 to 10 lap sessions my oil temp never exceeded 240 degrees. Can't say for sure if the vents helped but they sure didn't hurt.

Only problem I can see is if you foam cannon wash the car or pressure wash...

The soap and water will get into the engine bay

This is pretty awesome, I'm going to have to do this. Out of curiosity, has anyone done diy hood vents? I've searched for it but haven't found anything other than ppl just buying vented hoods.
