Push, as in understeer.
Autocross is all about setup and tire temps, since the tires tend to go cold if you sit on a grid for too long. To launch too hard off the line may put heat in the rears with the fronts being cold, not fun if you are competing. -alex |

I've found the opposite with street tires (stx or c). If u roast them off the line, doing an immediate sharp corner or a slalom you will notice the oversteer before understeer.

Our local events always have a kink in the beginning of the course prior to the timing cones so I don't even try. Plus I don't want to have to be replacing axles.

Nope, I meant understeer. Unless you're overheating the rears with your launch (highly unlikely unless it was a burnout) you'll have more grip at the rear than the front, resulting in understeer.

It doesn't really matter. If your tires are cold your run is going to suck whether you spin the rears or not.
Courses are not supposed to be drag launches by the rule book, but it happens. If it's not a sandy lot then it's free prosolo practice. Maybe if I start snapping axles then I'll think twice... |
