Also, people are talking about getting larger pulleys so that they can spin the blower slower. My 80mm pulley rubbed a hole in the inner hood liner.

Above dyno pulls were done with a 70mm pulley at 6500ft of elevation.
It hit almost 400whp at zero feet of elevation. I lost 4 pounds of boost going from Miami to Idaho.

Something was off tuning wise or with your prior setup unless I'm missing something...but I'm not intimately familiar with your build. You have the same torque just about as we got, but 30+ hp down on our numbers. We're doing that with the 80mm pulley. The 4 psi difference should account 5mm of pulley change, not 10. The dyno CF is also 1.22, which is really high and should compensate for altitude and then some. With that high of a correction factor you can ignore altitude as otherwise you're compounding the correction. Was that the built motor or OEM? What fuel?

All of the pulleys rub the OEM liner BTW, you gotta cut a hole in it or pull it off. Your torque dropoff is also very large past 5k compared to what we saw...and ours was on the stock header/cat back. What was the intake being run?

No doubt GTX will be better on the high end, but it shouldn't be that much of a difference if they were both running similar boost levels. Nice numbers on that 30r, I bet it is a handful at 6000 rpm!

What elevation are you tuning at? With this fixed displacement setup, elevation cost me a ton of boost. In fact we had over 100whp more in Miami than Idaho. I live at nearly 7000ft. This dyno was done at close to 6000ft.

The intake came from FA20club, they were the first to be able to get me the 335, 18 months ago.

Oh, another BIG difference came from lowering the compression ratio down to 10.5:1 This is a big mistake and I would not recommend doing so for anyone else that buys this kit.

This kit popped my stock motor, so to be safe we lowered the compression ratio. What this kit REALLY REALLY needs is a nice built 12.5:1 motor.

Fuel is e85 (I have a moto-east flex fuel kit in the car and I usually get 79-81% ethanol.)

I'd like to see your torque drop offs.

We did dyno pulls with 68, 70, 72, and 80mm pulleys.

The torgue drop was worse every time we went down a pulley size.

In fact, the 72mm pulley offered the best looking dyno.

why are you saying dropping the compression ratio to 10.5 to 1 was a mistake, we struggle with the smaller Sprintex with detonation at low RPM and have to tune the torque out of the stock motors running 10.5 to 1 compression helps us a lot we can run some timing at the lower RPM figures to make great torque.

thanks

From a Facebook page page belinging to MRT Performance in Australia, caption says it's an 85 mm pulley, waiting to see if they get back to me with cost, availability, etc. Also asked them about hood clearance.

These don't generate enough boost to need to lower the compression. It would be much better to address the torque with a built 12.5:1 motor.

E85 and a good tune is everything though. Tuners have been getting better and better with these motors. My turbo FRS is close to 600whp still on the stock motor and I tracked it all summer with no issues.

To follow up on my last post, they have pulleys in 5 mm increments from 85 to 105 mm (105 is out of stock at the moment). The 105 almost fits, you cut the center rib under the hood, raise it up a bit with the adjusters, and shim the rear trans mounts a little to lower the nose of the engine, and it just clears. They quoted me basically $250 shipped (edit, note those are Australian dollars), a lot relative to raceseng but for something you can't get elsewhere, I can live with it.

In my case, I think I will go with 100 mm. By my calculations a 108 mm pulley on the 335 should move the same CFM as a 70 mm pulley on the 210. The 100 should give a nice boost over a maxed out 210 kit, but still be relatively safe for the engine. I don't mind dealing with the fitment issues.

Personally I'd be looking hard elsewhere before spending any money with MRT. I've purchased from them before but it was only out of desperation.

You are hitting on a genuine concern, this being a overseas vendor with which I have no experience. Tell me about yours, where there issues with delivery or quality?

Mike how many miles you put on your car now with the 335 and hows it all going

Speaking to Sprintex the other day and they are curious to see how well a stock motor goes like alot of us .

We've been in touch with Sprintex as they have been keenly interested in the R&D. We're going to import some pulleys from MRT here stateside, if anyone is interested give us a shout ASAP so we can put in the bulk order. Exchange rate is REALLY good right now, but price will be ~220 bucks due to shipping. However this will give those with 91 octane or 93 octane exclusively a chance to run the big blower. We will have the 90, 95, and 100 pulleys. 100 should go to about 12 or so psi. For the 100, 95, and possibly the 90, you may have to notch or dent the rib that goes under the hood. I think the 90 will be fine for most folks.

I sent a link of this thread through to Mark at Sprintex shortly after it started so I imagine they have been rather keen to see how it all goes so good to hear you've been in contact.

Do you believe or think it is worth the time and effort to build a motor for the 335 or would that depend on how hard one plans to push it ?
Also have you made anymore progress with the tune or done more dyno time on the car and keen to see results of a full exhaust

PS; The exchange rate sux I reckon
