I actually did have a noise coming from the factory idle pullies - I ended up replacing both with pulleys from Raceseng - I still have the additional pulley that came from the kit and it's not making noise for me (yet...)

Do you know what's the size/spec for the alternator pulley? |

Could you also do me a favour and take measurements (ID, OD, Width) of the factory idler pulleys that you removed? I'll try and find a replacement part from Nuline as well. Last edited by Fizz; 12-27-2014 at 10:27 PM. |

That sucks - I got the set from FT86SpeedFactory in October but I know they waited a little while for them straight from raceseng - if they aren't selling them anymore by themselves that sucks because they are really well made pieces.

You need to disable the rear O2 sensor CEL codes, remove the rear O2 sensor adjustment range and then configure a custom map to give you an AFR from the WBO2 voltage. Essentially it'll need a remap.

So I just replaced the idler pulley with Nuline EP075, but still getting the squeaking noises.
Also removed one of the two factory metal idler pulleys (the top one directly under charger pulley) to inspect but as far as I could tell it seemed fine and spun smoothly. No play on the bearings too. I'd assume the lower idler pulley would be fine as well. Don't really know what else to check. Anyways the noise disappears entirely after about 10mins driving once the engine is fully warmed up. |

But I don't see how the alternator pulley could be the culprit....it doesn't have any bearings (that could fail) it's simply bolted to the alternator shaft and spins with the shaft.

The more the battery has been discharged, the more the alternator resists spinning.

If you want to monitor your AFRs using a wideband, you could also just weld in another sensor bung and mount the wideband in it.That's what I've done.

Sorry but I still don't understand how the alternator pulley itself could be causing the squeaks....that's what I was trying to say.

If truly the alternator, it drags and the belt squeaks over it until the battery charges up enough.

I'm a bit frustrated with the squeak (just really annoyed by it). I'd LOVE to get to the bottom of it and fix it once and for all. It's obviously a very common issue, as many of us with the Innovate kit seem to have it. |
