I always shift with the knob though. I would see why it would be good for tracking but if only they weren't on the wheel

Would it be possible to mod the auto paddles so they are behind the wheel and remain stationary as the wheel turns? More like the Lambo and Ferrari paddles.

I can't get used to the paddles because my daily is a manual 93 Miata. I have to use the shift knob and my right foot automatically gets off throttle during upshifts lol. I also drive in manual mode 100%; I need "change" my own gears.
And yes, as it has been mention many times on this site, the reason the AT is slightly slower is due to the gearing. I will be installing either 4.55 or 4.88 gears within the next month. Manual or Auto, its still a 15 second car manual macho men lmaoo |

What is your opinion of getting an auto frs?

14.9! ![]() I personally like the paddles on the wheel. I don't shuffle steer so the paddles are always at the proper hand. What was truly awful was the 911 I drove that had paddles integrated into the steering wheel on the left and right face of the wheel. You pushed them with either thumb to up shift and pulled them with your fingertips to downshift. Dreadful. ![]() Sent from Tandy 400 |

The thing I don't like about automatics is that it makes your right foot dominant. Your left foot just rests on the "dummy" pedal, while the right makes all the decisions and does all the work. This leads to an inherent bodily and mental imbalance when driving an automatic.
In Eastern medicine, balance between the sides of the body is extremely important. They are not fools, they know that you are only as strong as your weakest point. They also know that what happens on one side of the body (or doesn't happen) is reflected on the other side. I employee an X-balance system. The right hand handles the shifting, the left foot handles the clutch, the left hand holds the steering wheel (most of the time) and the right foot the gas. So.... let me ask folks these questions --- When you drive an automatic car after driving a manual: Don't you feel that something is missing? Don't you feel that one whole side of your body has been in a kind of suspended animation? Doesn't your left foot seem as useless and forlorn as teats on a bull? Don't you have a powerful urge to operate a clutch for a while just to work out the kinks resulting from not using your left leg? |

That feeling when you clutch in, shift to a lower gear, blip the throttle to the perfect rev and release the clutch for a smooth downshift.

That feeling when you pull back on the gearshift just a tad too early and it snaps out of gear. <shudder>
