I love my auto. I like the manual as it is a lighter car and fun also. Honestly in my humble non professional opinion they are both great choices. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Ya I just go for speed of response as long as the meaning comes across.

Well I prefer the tactile response of doing manually as I have a much better feel for the picture and it is more fun.

Lately I've been wishing I had gotten an Automatic. My last 3 cars have been Manual, and honestly it's getting a little old...especially in Austin where there's non-stop traffic. It also makes things harder because my gf cannot drive my car, so sometimes when I NEED to use her bigger vehicle, she's left without a car to drive.

There are positives and negatives to both sides. From all the good things I've heard about the Automatic transmission on these cars, I can't imagine you'd be unhappy with either choice.

Your picture does have lots of feel, in fact a bit too much. Maybe it's just me personally, but I tend to put it in a slower gear (take it easy, ya know) and take my hand completely off of my knob when I start feeling pain.

Anybody recommend a good oil cooler for the issue?

I don't have any personal experience with good oil coolers, but I know that if the feel gets too much, your rod will cause your oil to squirt all over the ground, it'll be a mess of a clean up. Lots of people go for brand-name products like pig mat, but I find that kleenex is quite sufficient.

People like you, are the reason why the car enthusiast community is an absolute joke to be part of.
It's unfortunate you're in that situation. Watch this video, it'll make you feel better

Yes, you are correct. What I meant to write was that often the car manufacturers don't give us a choice, and I liked that I could support a car that actually had a manual option by putting my money where my mouth was.

I have the AT and I think it is great. I drive manual mode probably 2/3 of the time, and shifting gears feels substantial. Downshifts with the rev match is great as well.

Question.

Do all Scion FR-S Auto's come with the paddles? or is there a non paddle model?

In Australia the GTS has paddles, but the lower spec GT is just a straight auto, with no paddles.

All come with paddles. I hate that they are on the steering wheel though
