Guess I am lucky on my mileage then since my WOT opportunities are interspaced with 2 hour trips down the highway to balance it out.

Oh you misunderstand me! I have a two hour each way commute on a straight highway for work so my opportunities are limited! I take full advantage whenever I can though.

Do I have to measure distance with meters or can I measure it with mm, cm, dm, m, dam, hm, km, etc...?

I can very well measure it in any way I want. I could even measure it in

mL / 10 KM
or
gal / 200 miles

There is indeed an "ideal" measurement in Canada and that is L/100kms.
Measure how ever your prickish little brain wants but be prepared when people call you out on it.
