Coilover reviews? Hks, Tein, Tanabe?

One question though guys I just unboxed them yesterday and one of the rear coilovers has a small paint chip on the top hat . Should I be concerned? Will it rust? I know these type of things happen during shipping and I would prefer not to ship it back since I feel that I'm being a bit too paranoid. I already pm'd @Gruppe-s just to get their opinion on it but what do you guys think? Will I be ok? Thanks everyone.

If you are concerned, just use touch-up paint. Otherwise it is fine.

Cool thanks man! I figured it was just me being a bit too paranoid about it. I think I will save myself the hassle from finding something that will match the paint color since I might end up making it look worse lol.

I will post up my impressions later when it is eventually installed.

Forgot to ask will the rear suspension stick up through the rear carpeting? I heard about that somewhere with the Tein Mono Sport I think, something about it allowing easier on the fly damper adjustment.

Yes. Just fold the carpet back.

I thought I would have a play around with my dampers today. Much to my dismay I found that one of the rear adjusters had been bent off axis. No doubt it was the trolley jack on my way to the local track. Luckily for me the adjuster is still working. I purchased some 32mm diameter 1.6mm thick aluminium tubing to make a bit of protection. It is 40mm high. The tubing sits in there quite nicely.

These are not Tein Mono Sport but you get the idea.

Sorry for the late response, I finally got an answer from Tein. Sorry that the item was damaged during shipping. The plate is zinc coated under the powdercoat so it shouldn't rust regardless. Thanks for your patience.

On the softest settings very similar to stock, i ride them with the rear a little stiffer but with spring rates 7/7 and the valving is very smooth i'm pretty happy with the comfort and performance they provide (TEIN has probably been making twin tube designs before i was born). Your welcome to drive the car the next Dublin meet, I think im the only one running teins and rocking a tein sticker there lol.

Same here.


I'm stuck between those, the RCE Tarmac Zero + RCE Plates, or the complete Ground Control setup (had very good luck with them on past BMWs I've owned).


Basically I'm trying to stay around $2k-ish with camber plates and linear springs. If I had $3k it would Tarmac IIs + RCE camber plates.
