Bought my first car when I was 19. I loved that 86 so much. The Xb was my first new car.

metal! I didn't do the welding. My friends did- I was their shop monkey; did the cutting and helped design the bumper.

I bought mine 2nd hand and researched them a lot before buying it hehehe. I found the pre-cat issue and the butterfly screws issue too, so I bought it and installed a header and took the intake apart,( wasn`t the easiest thing in the world) and put lock-tight on all the screws. Never had a problem with it. Later on removed the balance shafts. Was so much fun to beat up on Civics with fart cans .

Haha... missed this. I was yanking your chain. Psshhh.... wooden bumper!

I burned my nuts with a welding rod. When the torch popped out, I forgot to drop it, and it burned through my smock and jeans while I hurried to shut the valves. Got shit for the rest of the year because I had to show it to the school nurse.

1955 Ford Coupe in 1968. Drove it a block and the driveshaft fell off. I put it back on with two number ten Phillips heads screws with square nuts. Got it home. Thought my dad was going to kill me when he looked at my "repair". Next was a 1965 Simca, 1000 4 cylinder motor. The engine was in the rear. The gas pedal broke off of the cable connector that went to the engine. I attached a dog leash to it and drove with my left hand and gave it gas with my right pulling the leash. Drove it like that for 6 months until I could afford to get the pedal welded back on. I have had a lot of cars but those two have a special place in my memory bank.
