Perhaps, but for me that meant it already had 25,000 miles on it. Sadly the paint may have hardened, but its not self-healing.

Fair enough, I really wasn't trying to imply anything about you.

There was construction on my street a few months ago that involved these lightweight aluminum pipes being stacked across the street. Wind blew one of them down of of the pile right into my car. It didn't dent but left a couple of good scratches on the door. The city told me if I had a problem to make a comprehensive claim to my insurance company. Instead I bought some touch up paint and it took care of it.

Maybe mine sat long enough to cure properly or the lava has a harder base but it takes quite a bit to chip it. Not that I don't have chips, I have a pile but that is from so many hours spent on the highway. Every one of them (including one in the center of the roof) was a high velocity rock/debris hit that probably would have taken the paint off a tank!
Even where I got hit in the front by the tail light shrapnel is dented but the paint is completely intact.

My FR-S has more spots on it than my wife's '05 Red Mustang. And of course, with red the primer is white so it is always very obvious which doesn't help. No big deal really though, most of them could be touched up if I wanted to take the time to do it.

As far as I know (and I've put 99.99999% of the miles on it) it has never been hit by a big enough object for me to even notice.

The stuff that hit mine scared the crap outta me! Thought I was shot with almost every one of them. HMM Now that I think of it I was in Detroit for the worst one.

Yeah, the windshield is live as hell! First time I thought it was a brick. Wiped off a little speck of dust... nothing.

Agreed. No other hates from me, I appreciate the simplicity and driving characteristics. Wish it had a better exhaust note and proper header.

I hate the fact that we leased this car instead of financing it. I always have to keep a mental note not to go over 1000 miles per month but I'm already over by 3k miles hence the reason I'm “storing " it in winter.

My apprehension for financing the FRS was the fact that it was a new car/model and I was concerned about reliability issues that come with brand new car models in terms of long term ownership.

You can't switch from lease to finance? I'm almost positive you can finance a buyout on your lease

Don't know about the U.S. but that is fairly common here.
