i made sure mines was off the truck i even waited 2 weeks for the boat to get to port, got it with 2 miles on the ODO,
If it's a cold start it idles high so it warms up the engine/oil/cats and etc... normal on all modern cars now a days, i wouldn't think about reliability that much with this car (unless you have a RX-7) you have 60k mile power train warranty, i even skimped out on the extended warranty knowing this is a entire new platform/engine, this is my mentality after owning this car for half a year seeing how there are tons of after market parts, chirping noise? UEL + straight pipe will fix that Rim rash? time for new rims anyways Blown engine? 2jz will fix that Fender bender? Rocket Bunny will fix that! burned clutch? exedy stage 1 clutch will fix that But wait 1GiantTurtle i'm not made of money Well you shouldn't have bought a new car D:<, only kidding , by the time you're done paying off your car, or your warranty expires, you are going to need new parts anyways. Have fun, don't let your paranoid-ness ruin the smile that this car brings to every ones faces, and remember "he who shall be last shall be sideways and smiling" -Jeremy Clarkson

As others have said, Toyota and Subaru make reliable cars, so don't worry about that.
I had 60 miles on mine off the lot. 10 of which I put on it testing it out. I have no problem with this. I wanted THAT FRS! Seems like you are second-guessing your purchase on a number of fronts. Just let go of that, and let your FRS do what it was designed to do - put a smile on your face. Drive it. Enjoy it! |

Mine had 23 miles at delivery. Most of that was me test driving it. I had to wait for the dealership to gas it up before my 1st test drive - had like 3 miles. Only one other person drove it - a girl who it turned out didn't want an AT!
Went back the next business day and closed the deal.

32 miles on it, most of those because the dealer I went to got the car from a different dealer's lot. I had to have dat dere Asphalt!
Makes me shake my head sometimes when you look at a dealer's inventory, for instance this dealer had 9 FR-S on the lot, SIX of those were Raven, two Firestorm, and one RS (banana). Great job on the selection fellas. Great job.

Mine had 9 miles. The dealership had no premium, so the saleperson and myself drove to a chevron station and filled the car up on his dime.
As for reliability. My assessment after 25,000 miles. The motor so far has been solid. No issues whatsoever. I've accepted the crickets. Paint is a little thin and sheetmetal is thin also (to be expected in a car like ours ... weight savings). My left mirror shakes in the wind. I'm too lazy to have the dealership look at it. The driver side visor broke. I've never had that happen in any other car. They replaced it. Everything else has been rock solid. |

There is one very very reliable thing about these cars!
OP (and the rest of you new guys) please do not post when it happens!!!! There are already an infinite number of threads on the subject and I think I will just put a gun in my mouth if I have to read another one that is even titled about the subject.

I think I had 37, but the car was still wrapped up in plastic. The damn dealership didn't clean the adhesive too well, I had to clean it off myself later :/

My dealer didn't even take off the blue plastic on the pedals and door sills. Aside from the clutch and brake I left it on to prevent scratches. |
