I had an almost identical accident with a deer, and the estimate was around 7,500 without airbags deploying, or frame damage. I only had mine for three months at the time. Everyone always thinks these estimates are high, I just don't think many understand how much things actually cost. One OEM headlight alone is listed at $700.
You could have hit a deer in any car. I wouldn't sell this car just because of that if you enjoy it. Also, the resale value at this point has dropped from accidents where its really going to hit your wallet. |

I don't think anyone is understanding what I am saying. I'm not surprised that the hood didn't remain undamaged, lol. I'm just looking at that notch where the hood is bent 180 degrees around and saying most hoods are so thick that it would have just crushed that portion, not molded it into a weird new shape, lol.

Sorry about your misfortune with your BRZ. If there's no frame damage and you have a new engine, I say keep it. As long as it drives like new, and the body panels and the hood are all aligned properly, think of it as a new car and enjoy. No sense taking a financial loss.
Last, treat yourself to a set of new wheels and suspension and you'll forget all about these incidents. Love. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.

Lol. Yes. It is aluminum, and very thin. Which is why my original comment in this thread, before everyone tried explaining the point of crumple zones, was just stating how you could tell how thin and malleable the hood was from how it deformed. I even said "aluminum foil" because that's also aluminum.

Hey OP, it sucks that these bad things are happening to your car.
You should try to get rid of it before your resale value tanks even further. Last edited by kdmBRZ; 12-04-2014 at 03:51 PM. |

With all these accidents your resale value will suck also the car will never drive the same way as it was new ever again. Common sense dictates if a vehicle gives you problems like this you sell it before it hemorrhages more money

that hood tho. lol ive never seen a hood bend in such an odd angle before but i guess with weak alluminum anythings possible especially when you catch a deer antler in the right spot. glad you werent hurt. as far as your car karma goes just keep on trucking lol if you love the car dont get discouraged so easily and keep the thing for a while. like some of the other posts said, it could happen to you in any car at any time so unless you dislike the car i would say keep it! theyre awesome cars! i know i love mine |

RIP deer. And may i now conduct the worlds first online deer funeral. We are all gathered here today to celebrate what a beautiful life Devon the deer had. He was always a kind lad with a bright future ahead of him. It is sad we will never know his full possibilities as a deer of the forest of the op's unknown location. It is on this empty evening that we remember his life and mourn his death. God rest his merry soul.
