Bad Luck With My BRZ.

Hey guys, before getting to the most recent event let me give you a little backstory.

Picked up my BRZ not even a year ago. All was fine until around four or five months. My engine blew. Subaru replaced it for me and although the dealer I took it to took a month and a half I walked away a happy man. Subaru made me happy and I was just happy to get my car back.

A month or two goes by and I spun out and hit a tree. Okay so that was my fault I will admit. Insurance covers it and it came out to $10k in damages. It still sounds like too much, but what do I know.

It's been maybe a month or maybe not even and I end up with a collision with a deer. Here is some pictures.

This is another $9k in damages somehow. I don't believe in bad luck, but I feel like my car is cursed or something. Every time I get it back something else happens. Most of it I couldn't even help it happening either.

I love this car, but my friends and family keep telling me to sell it. I still owe around $10k. I'd probably be taking a big financial loss, but I feel like I'll have the car again for a few weeks or months and something else will happen. My insurance is going to go through the roof eventually. Like I said; I love the car, but I don't know what to do now.

Sell it if you can't drive it/don't like it/family pressure. Don't say stuff is cursed, my grandmother still believes in that, but in 2014 (almost 2015) we explain things logically.

Sorry to hear man. http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/sadwavey.gif

Those estimates sound nuts. Feels like $3k maybe to me. No airbags?

The car's not gonna gain value and you have a decent amount paid off.. hate to see you sell it but :iono:

Might I suggest going a little easier on the gas pedal on public roads?

Stuff happens.

Ex got a ticket, then got hit twice. second was day after she got the repaired car back.

Nothing has happened since and its been years.

Man, the way that hood is crumpled really shows how thin it is... looks like aluminum foil, lol. Sucks dude.

Sorry to hear. Just remember after flipping a coin 99 times and it coming up heads 99 times, the odds on the 100th flip are still 50/50. Same things could happen to you in a new car, or not happen at all again in this one.

The front is a crumble zone. It is designed to crumble to absorb the energy from the impact in a controlled deformation. You certainty don't want the energy from the collision impact to travel through the front and into you.

gota change your mentality. If you keep thinking car is bad luck and that something bad will happen, something bad will happen. my2cents

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negativity_bias"]Negativity bias - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
The negativity bias[1] (also known as the negativity effect) refers to the notion that, even when of equal intensity, things of a more negative nature (e.g. unpleasant thoughts, emotions, or social interactions; harmful/traumatic events) have a greater effect on one’s psychological state and processes than do neutral or positive things.

Thanks guys.

The car is going to be gone for three weeks roughly. Since buying it I'll have been without it for around three months out of the soon to be 9 months having the thing lol. I don't know.

I do drive it when I have it lol, love it, and other than these incidents my family is fine with it. I don't really think its cursed by the way I was just saying my luck has been bad lol.

No airbags either time. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks those estimates are high, but I still can't believe it. This is all aesthetic for the most part too from what I saw. I really don't want to sell it either, but I don't know.

I learned my lesson after the first accident. There was nothing I could do with the deer.

If only I could put those odds in my favor lol, but yeah I know. It's just discouraging because it feels like it's the car. Which is impossible, but still.

I'm not talking about how the front end crumpled. As you said, that's normal. I'm talking about the hood specifically, which appears to have caught an antler or something. I've never seen a hood deform in that manner. It's just because it's thin, but it still looks funky.
