Triad NC Owners / Meet Info

We definitely have enough members to start our own thread for chat and meet info.

I had a great time at our first meet, and I've been coming up with some ideas for some stuff to do.

I'd really like to know how often you guys want to get together, and anywhere or anything you'd like to do.

Ill also keep up a registry if you guys want something like that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here are some random ideas, lemme know what sounds fun and what sucks

Our last meet was on a sat, and what's one of the best things about Saturday? The good BBQ restaurants are still open. We could head down to Lexington and do a BBQ run, maybe head down to the NC zoo, or the Cool Combat Air Soft indoor place.

I know Charlotte has a Saturday meet as well, as does Raleigh occasionally. We could meet up and cruise over for some double trouble.

In lieu of putting a track or auto-x meet of some sort (hopefully to be discussed) There are several nice indoor and out go kart places near by.

Instead of doing a cruise we could always do some sort of maintenance day, I just don't know if I can trust my cat to help me bleed the brakes.

For more extended drives we have a lot of options, heading up into VA, down to GA, and of course the Dragon. Lots of options to do this one, and we could go en masse.

We can also do a parkway cruise that could also be quite extended. I'm interested in doing a mt Mitchell climb, as well as exploring more of the back roads around.

For shorter times, it could be fun to do a tour of our favorite local roads that brighten our everyday.

Any sort of holiday run, down to SC for fireworks for the 4th(any occasion, I love fireworks), Bermuda Run Festival of lights for the holidays, I thought I had at least one more...

And of course our local 66 run, its close and its fun.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Drive doesn't always have to be included, just a quick get together for dinner or I'm willing to host at my house as long as you aren't allergic to cats!

I'm a big old nerd, you can get me to most anything dealing with games (computer, console, card, table top, that list goes on), Movies, Anime, and the like.

Run into your local twins (not literally) and get em to join up and come out, lets keep this going.

ps- don't forget about our facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/751706411533583/

and there are several other local and semi local ones out there, if your facebook savy, help me out!

Don't forget the tail of the dragon. We could make that a day trip. I think they just hosted or are hosting a 86 weekend in the spring.

BTW if any of you guys know of any good local tint shops and could shoot me there info or post it here I think that's going to be the nxt thing I do thanks for the help and finally the triad is represented in the forum lol.

I'm in for everything suggested as long as I can make it out. Weeknights would be tough, but as long as I'm in town on weekends, that wouldn't be much of a problem I think.

One thing that might be coming up (they've done it in the past) is a toy drive at Martinsville. You bring a few toys and they let you on the track - it's guided by a pace car, but you can always hang back a bit and open it up on the paperclip, which is fun.

Edit: Found it

Quote:
Fans will still be able to drive their personal cars around the historic Martinsville Speedway as part of the toy drive, but this year the window of opportunity is much larger. Beginning Dec. 1 and running through Dec. 12, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., five laps around the track will be offered for the donation of a new, unwrapped toy or a $10 donation.

Consider the "Back of the Dragon", it's closer than the tail. Longer, fewer curves, less pull offs, but the speed limit is 45-55 and a lot less traffic, at least in my experience.

This is awesome! The Wifeys birthday is the 3rd, so I already have some time off and a trip to VA planned.

Being Martinsville is only about an hour away and its a good cause, If we can match some schedules, I'd go more than once. I'm mostly free the 4&5 and the 10th if you are.

This weekend I'm up in Asheville, so I don't think I'm going to be able to make it since I have to work all next week too. Wish they would extend it through next weekend!

I've used a couple of those before too - very good suggestions on there.

I've used the outer 2, never used Motowhere, will give it a good going through.

I need to start making a list of lesser fun roads that don't seem to make it on these lists, thanks again

Dec is a hard month to plan for as most of us have crazy schedules.

With that in mind, just seeing how many would be available for a drive sat the 13th or sun the 14th. I hope that its a sweet spot between travels and increased work.

I don't actually have anything planned, so it'll probably be the parkway, 66 again, or Ive been looking at hwy 158 between Reidsville and Roxboro. Anyone know this road?
