Hi,

I finally made an appointment at dealer for fuel pump replacement. My question is, do they reset the ecu after the repair? Since I'm on Openflash Tablet tune, I was wondering if I have to turn it back to stock tune before bringing it in.

When I took mine in I flashed it back to stock, just to be safe. I honestly don't think they do anything to the ECU.

without a doubt, flash back. Way too easy to maintain a record these days. Best case scenario, they don't even pry into the ecu. Worst case scenario they run a scan, find out the tune has been altered with, and documented. If they do that kind of investigative stuff, you're sure to bet if any engine-related hiccups occur, they'll bring that into review and perhaps use it against you for warranty work

Toyota service writer here...

No, no flash of the ECU is necessary. The battery will probably be disconnected so it'll have to go through relearn, but we don't reflash the ECU at all as part of the TSB. You should be OK, unless you have one of the very early cars that had a service campaign for a reflash and it hasn't been done yet.

I do, however, advise all of my customers to flash back to stock just to be on the safe side. My techs and I generally try and look the other way with a lot of the aftermarket stuff unless it's glaringly obvious it's causing issues.

So today, the fuel pump was replaced. It was a success! No more cricket noise, just regular tick tick DI noise. We'll see how long it lasts.
