I have never eaten a cricket. But once I was on a movie set out in the swamp in Florida, and as soon as the sun went down these clouds of mole crickets came flying out of the swamp and into the lenses of our 12 and 18 kilowatt lights, where they would catch fire and spiral smoking into a smoldering heap under each light stand. I don't know what they might have tasted like, but those steaming piles of roasted crickets smelled absolutely delicious.

hmmmm....since I'm old, I can't hear ANY high pitched sounds, so I don't know if my car does that or not ..

However, does the squeak vary with engine RPMs .. ??

Do you have a MT or AT ..... ??

If you have a MT, does the squeak stop if you slip it into neutral while driving .. ??

If you have a MT, does the squeak stop if you push in on the clutch ..??

Where does it sound like the squeak coming from .. ??

As mentioned in a above post, does it quit if you turn the A/C off .. ??

From the little you've said, I second the suggestion that it's your AC compressor. I have the same thing--high pitched squeak (like sneakers on a basketball court) every 15 seconds or so. Only happens when engine is under load; never while idling. That's normal, sadly.

There's a known issue with the fuel pumps making a high pitched squeak. I don't have the TSB handy but contact your dealer and let them take care of it. I have heard that the Subaru pumps don't have the issue but don't have any facts to support that statement.

If you mean "crickets", which is from the high pressure fuel pump, all of the pumps are the same (all engine parts are the same between brz and frs) and the issue has not been fixed. All replacement pumps exhibit the same noise after a time. It's just a characteristic of the HPFP. Many dealers are refusing to replace these multiple times as some owners are actually annoying enough to go in like 5 times for a new fuel pump, which Subaru and/or Toyota are uninterested in repeatedly throwing away.

I hear putting some two-stroke in the tank helps, but I think that's weird. Sometimes it's loud. People tell you certain stations don't cause crickets, but that's not true, just luck. Comes and goes.

There are a thousand threads on crickets. Do we need to go down this road yet again?
Simple - Take the car to the dealer of find somebody that knows cars and have them listen. Many times the "I have this noise in the front of my car threads" end up with "I took it in and they tell me it is my trunk lid" (or some other weird shit).
Any help that people try to give on there for noises, smells or feel are only going to be guesses at best and could be horribly misleading at worst.
