He he, first drive in the snow of this winter, and I'm still grinning now. Can't imagine storing this car in snow season.

Stored my FRS in Winter of 2012-13. Sold my tC which sucked in the snow anyway which was my cheapness in not getting snow tires. Had my baby (FRS) out for the first time last winter and will be out again this winter. I am planning on getting another vehicle after this winter as my student loans will be paid off by March!
If one can afford another vehicle I see it in perfect logic to store this car. It's not how much the car cost or anything. It's depends on the person and how much they want the car exposed to the elements. Personally, I would prefer to keep my FRS out of the elements. I sold my tC for the cash I needed at the time. It's nice only having one vehicle to take care of and pay insurance for. Yet I will be back in business with 2 cars soon enough! The FRS stays under a premium car cover most of the time since it sits outside for right now. It was in a garage for the first 1 and 6 months. Cars in general are poor investments yet it's how much they mean to the person that owns them. It's not always about their value in terms of money. Here's to another winter! Cheers. |

I am going to lease a wrx as a winter beater because I'm going full body next spring. It's going to be fun to own two cars. |

Pulled up to Farm Boy today, and parked next to a nice 10 Series covered in snow. Cars looked absolutely boss beside each other.

I have a Wrangler that I drive in the winter. But - if the roads and conditions are just right without a bunch of gravel and salt and crap - I am going sledding

New to the forum...just bought my FR-s in September with the complete plan of parking it for the winter.
I am a Journeyman Mechanic that recommends service the fluids then fuel up with a premium fuel. If you can, take it for a rip once a month to keep the lubes covering what they should and of course to just drive it. Bought the car to replace one that was written off...not by myself. I kept all new and existing drivers going till now. There is just one teen driver left. This was for me..........and the missus. for when we wanted to get away. Have the minivan for groups. the 4x4 for working and inclement weather. I feel these cars would be a blast in winter as I grew up driving rear wheel drive on Canadian prairies. Smaller wheels with a higher profile grip tire would be better but I think you would still need to pick your battles snowfall wise. It's all about what can be done and personal choice. |

This is my winter beater. 91 civic si. I initially brought it BecuAse it would have cost me around the same to buy proper winter tires for the FRS. In the short 2 months I've own it I've put in a new clutch, new blower motor change the oil spark plug and fix various leaks and annoyances. Still need to replace various worn out suspension items. Only the clutch was put in proffesionaly. Ended up spending more than the price of the beater itself. I will never get the money back if I do decide to sell it but I learn so much priceless wrenching skill. Not to mention the sense of pride when I manage to fix shit myself. Its fun to be able to own 2 cars that's so different from each other yet both so fun to drive and work on. I think I will always have a winter beater from now on. More cars more wrenching I could do =D

This car is SO much fun to drive in the winter! I bought mine to replace my DD as I already have a couple summer/weekend/project/headache cars. The first snow fall hit before I got winter tires and I was terrified I had made huge mistake, but once I got the winters on it, it was night and day. I highly recommend it.
Sorry about potato quality of photos there security camera footage I paused and took a photo of with my phone.. I'm honestly just looking for excuses to share just how much fun I'm having with this car, everyone in my life is sick of hearing about it lol. |
